Not sure why there are so many suggestions of looking for love/sex in bars. Perhaps look for a social life and/or exercise by joining a club for exercise and to meet others like yourself. Private clubs, like The Royal Bangkok Sports Club and The British Club have activities and sports where you can make friends pretty easily. The British Women's Group (depending on your gender), the Siam Society, Bangkok Community Theatre and many more provide activities that also involve meeting others.
