Popular Post webfact
A violent altercation involving a sword and knife broke out in Karon, Phuket, last night, leaving both a French and a Thai man with serious injuries. The incident, starting late in the evening, quickly escalated from a heated verbal exchange to a dangerous physical confrontation. According to Karon Police, the episode began around 9:30 PM when Mr Jirasak ‘Mun’ Thonghor, a local resident, allegedly threw a beer bottle into the home of Mr Arnaud Cezard, a 50-year-old French national. The initial provocation led to a furious argument, which soon spiralled out of control. The fight took place near Soi Green Drinking Water, where both men armed themselves—one with a knife and the other with a sword. The police have yet to confirm who wielded which weapon, but the confrontation swiftly turned violent, resulting in both men needing immediate medical attention. Mr Cezard and Mr Thonghor were rushed to separate hospitals following the brawl. While Mr Cezard has since made a recovery, Mr Thonghor remains in a more critical condition and is currently intubated. Colonel Khundet Na Nongkhai informed local media that ongoing investigations are focusing on the origin of the dispute and the specifics of the altercation. Authorities are now scrutinising CCTV footage and collecting witness testimonies to piece together the night's events. The investigation’s outcome will determine whether legal actions will be taken against either or both of the involved parties. freeworld
For their honour and reliving the 17th and 18th centuries, they challenged each other to a duel. Extracts from wikipedia: "During the 17th and 18th centuries (and earlier), duels were mostly single combats fought with swords (the rapier and later the small sword)" "The duel was based on a code of honour. Duels were fought not to kill the opponent but to gain "satisfaction", that is, to restore one's honour by demonstrating a willingness to risk one's life for it"

I think that came later with the English: "...but beginning in the late 18th century in England, duels were more commonly fought using pistols. Fencing and shooting continued to coexist throughout the 19th century."

Galong
Whatever happened to the good old days when if two men fought, they fought man-on-man with no weapons. Using a weapon is cowardly. 1 1

Popular Post cdemundo
"While Mr Cezard has since made a recovery, Mr Thonghor remains in a more critical condition and is currently intubated" If the article is accurate and Mr. Thonghor started it all off by throwing a beer bottle, it sounds like Mr. Thonhor "effed around and found out". 1 1 1

Popular Post ignore it
I'm for legalizing sword duels. Most of the ruffians are still up at dawn anyway. In the event the puritanicals get their way, they can convert all the newly vacant weed shops to fencing schools. Think of the machismo of dueling scars and swaggering about with your sword.

I prefer swords because you have to get up close and it's you and your skills versus your opponent. Guns are too easy! Also, a "zipper" on your body, after they've stitched you up, looks way more impressive than a bullet hole. 🤪 Edited May 22 by pacovl46
