Apology from Pattaya Pub Guards after Assault on Tourists

If one suffers a severe concussion, as I assume Mr White did, one is not out of the woods for a few days. There is likely bleeding in the brain and quite possibly some blood vessels have been weakened or damaged by the kick. Someone so concussed could get up and walk away, but suddenly drop dead hours or a day or two later.

 

There was a comment by a major owner of bars on Soi 6 that noted someone of Mr White's description showed up at a morgue a day or so later. Perhaps that is just coincidence that the deceased resembles Mr White, but as facts remain slim on the ground, one cannot rule out the possibility. Of course equally likely it is just a rumor.

 

Concussions are not anything to sneeze at. The NFL in the US puts players who suffer a concussion into a multi-day protocol that involves continuous observation, despite the player being fully alert again.

In the better days you may have had the odd incident involving ladyboys but nothing on this level. Actually the girls could normally deal with unruly  customers themselves

The ones that loathe me usually do so because I will not help them to rip off tourists. (I live on Samui where most folk make their money from tourists.)

I can't quite understand the point that the police made that they need the guy who took a penalty kick to his head to need to make a complaint before they will "investigate".  The guy could well be dead by now and be incapable of making a complaint.  There are literally hundreds of witnesses.  There is multi-angled high definition camera footage of it happening available online.  This is nothing short of attempted murder.   Do they need murder victims to make a complaint before investigating as it is usually quite difficult for victims of murder to pop into a police station and fill out a form?

No-one has said all Thais behave that way. The ones you write of are not the problem, are they. People have written of what happened in this instance, and you and I know that the same kind of violence occurs anywhere in the country on an almost daily basis.

In answer to your questions, apparently so. But write about all this in the wrong place or in the wrong way and they'll be knocking on your door to accuse you of damaging the reputation of Thailand, causing unrest and being a threat to national security.

If the man that took the kick filed a police complaint , the guard whose nose he broke would also file a police complaint. They’d both get done in the courts. Could be the reason for not reporting it.

I'm far from a tourism expert on these matters, but considering the videos of this incident have made it into the national newspapers of the UK, I'd suggest that thuggery of this nature going unpunished or lessened by charging them under the "business security act" which is unlikely to cover attempted murder crimes would lead to a more significant damaging of the reputation of Thailand.  I'm led to understand that one of the "security" thugs was wearing a knuckleduster which suggests the goal of the security thugs was to inflict violence rather than de-escalate any situation.   

 

By the time the security thug thew the first punch the bills (all of them) had been paid and the drunken idiots were out of the bar.  Mission accomplished from a security perspective.  Anything that happened after that was needless violence and thuggery.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assault involved a barrage of punches and kicks. The unfortunate tourist in the white shirt was kicked to the ground, and when a second tourist in a grey shirt tried to intervene, he too faced a similar fate, collapsing after being kicked in the face.

 

The altercation was witnessed by numerous bystanders, including both Thai nationals and other foreign tourists. Despite repeated pleas from the crowd, the guards continued their assault, even as the tourists pleaded for mercy.

Investigations revealed that before the fight broke out, there was a dispute over an unpaid bill at a bar in Naklua subdistrict. A cashier, identified only as Ms. A, explained that one of the tourists had left without settling his bill, leading to a bitter argument and eventually to the violent incident.

 

Although the two victims have yet to file an official complaint, the incident has raised serious concerns about tourist safety in Pattaya. Local authorities are now under pressure to ensure such incidents do not recur, aiming to maintain Pattaya’s image as a tourist-friendly destination.

No criminal charges are being sought as per this article. Instead they will face some kind of business law. What a shame when so many attacked a couple and continuously beat them to a pulp and then while down kicking them with a running kick to the head. There should be criminal charges for this and they should have been arrested and behind bars for that assault. When many Thais beat down foreigners this way and justice is not given, it makes the foreigners even more afraid for when it happens next time. On the other side. If a gang of foreigners attacked a couple Thai this way they would be in jail facing serious criminal charges and ban to Thailand after they are released from jail. There Thai are dangerous and have shown their colours to the world. I really hope social media gets outraged that they only face some action for business laws.
