The first phase emphasizes a hostage-prisoner swap and a short-term ceasefire. This initial step is seen as crucial for building trust between the conflicting parties and setting the stage for more comprehensive peace measures.

The second phase is focused on achieving a permanent end to hostilities. This includes a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, which is considered essential for lasting peace in the region. The text of the US draft resolution clearly outlines this goal, marking a significant step towards de-escalation.

The third phase of the plan looks towards the future of Gaza, proposing a multi-year reconstruction plan. This phase is designed to address the extensive destruction that Gaza has endured due to ongoing conflicts, aiming to rebuild the region and improve living conditions for its residents.

I think the first phase of the plan should be changed to be a return of most but not all of the hostages in return for a short-term ceasefire.

The second phase of the plan could then include the return of the rest of the hostages after a full withdrawal of the IDF from Gaza.

The plan's third phase should also include the beginning of discussions on a two-state solution.

Participation and execution of all the phases should be enforced by a third-party (like the UN) peacekeeping force.

This is basically the plan I suggested on another forum over six months ago.

You seem to think it is only Hamas that have been doing anything wrong. Rather blinkered. This who mess was started by Israel.

Expand

The mess as you put it was the war started by Hamas on Oct 7th and the continuing holding of innocent hostages.

How about returning half of the captives in return for 1,000 Palestinians in Israeli jails with no trial?

Then returning all stolen Palestine land in return of the remaining captives.

This would be a good start.

How about returning half of the captives

Reached the lowest of the low. They are hostages Neeranam.

Israel cannot bring them to trial because Israel would have to revel their evidence and that  would jeopardise the Israeli agents operating in the West Bank

That is the lamest excuse I've ever heard !!

A post and reply have been removed. Please refer to the hostages taken by Hamas by what they are and what the "UN and International bodies refer to them as". Hostages, not captives.

Comment on moderation also removed.

Why would Israel want to keep people in jail for no reason ?

You just "revealed"  the reason  they keep them in jail for no reason

   I didn't reveal that .

Israel does have  reason to keep them in jail , its just that a court case would revel the Palestinian  informants in the West bank and they would be killed , so they are kept in jail without a trial

Exactly like those prisoners.

Hamas doesn't want the Palestinians held without trial released though, they want convicted terrorists relapsed .

The terrorists who organised the Oct 7 terror attack were former Israeli prisoners ( convicted mass murderers)  who were released in exchange for hostages

Blinken's message:

So my message to governments throughout the region, to people throughout the region is if you want a ceasefire.

Press Hamas to say yes, if you want to alleviate the terrible suffering of Palestinians in Gaza press Hamas to say yes, if you want to get all the hostages home, Hamas to say yes, if you want to put Israelis and Palestinians alike on the path to more durable peace and security.

Press Hamas to say yes, if you want to prevent this conflict from spreading Hamas to say yes.

So the only party that has not accepted, the only party that's not said yes.

Is Hamas.
