Thai media update report.

“The fire has heavily damaged the main hall of Wat Saeng Kaew Photiyan, under the guidance of Kruba Ariyachart. The incident occurred late last night, causing extensive damage to the ornate hall.

According to the latest update from Wat Saeng Kaew Photiyan, the fire broke out around midnight on June 22. Temple visitors who were sleeping at the site reported hearing loud noises resembling firecrackers from various directions. Upon investigation, they discovered that the main hall was engulfed in flames. Immediate efforts were made to alert the monks and call for emergency services.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit, though the exact cause is still under investigation by forensic experts.

In response to the incident, Wat Saeng Kaew Photiyan has also posted on social media, sharing images of the damage and calling for donations to aid in the restoration of the hall. The temple has invited the public to contribute to the rebuilding efforts.”

Update.

“The fire at the ornate main hall of Wat Saeng Kaew Photiyan in Mae Suai, Chiang Rai, has caused damage estimated at over 100 million baht.

The hall, built over 16 years ago, is a cherished community centre. The fire destroyed valuable items, including important Buddha statues and wax figures. The event has deeply affected the local community, with some residents staying at the scene since the fire broke out.

The Abbot Kruba Ariyachart, currently in the United States, has been informed of the incident. The abbot advised his followers to stay calm and focus on future recovery efforts. Interestingly, Kruba Ariyachart had previously warned his disciples about the potential for such a fire during a recent religious observance, but the warning was not taken seriously at the time.

At 11:00 Chiang Rai Governor Phuthiphong Sirimat, along with forensic officers, investigators, community leaders, and other officials, arrived to inspect the site and gather evidence to determine the fire's cause. They discovered debris scattered across the hall, with significant damage to important Buddha statues, wax figures, and murals. The surveillance camera's server, located behind the main Buddha statue, was damaged by the fire, and officials are assessing whether the footage can be recovered.”
