They now have shuttle vans which I think go directly from Suvarnabhumi to Don Muang, but as usual I can't find any useful info on the official airport site. Does anyone know anything about the vans? Are they free? Is there a time-table? I'll be getting in about 10.30pm and I'm worried they will have finished already.

there are 2 regular public bus services between the 2 airports - a lot of workers in the new airport still have homes around don muang. You will have to take a 5 minutes shuttle bus to the transportation centre and from here the public buses. I would imagine there should be at least 1 bus after 10.30pm as the workers finish their evening shift

Bus # 555 stops right outside the terminal, expressway all the way to DM. It runs 24/7 but it might be infrequent late at night. There may be natural gas-powered vans from the airport bus terminal. Go to the far end and see what's running.

the free shuttlebus to the transportation centre then bus 555 every 30 mins to don muang terminal

do not use vans or minibuses as they drop you at railway stationwhich is a 20 min walk to terminal

I arrived Suvarnabhumi airport yesterday. I asked at the information desk if there was any shuttle bus to Don Muang airport. Got the answer that there isn't any such bus. The only answer I got was to take a taxi. I didn't get informed about any vans going between the two airports. The cost. flat rate, was 400 Baht and on top of that all the express way fees (85 Baht)

If you paid the flat rate then you're a moron who got stiffed. There's no excuse really because you even knew about this forum.

I went from the airport all the way back to my apartment for a grand total of (90 baht for two people in the vans) + (65 baht taxi) 155 baht. It was pretty fast too..only took 40 minutes of travel time and I live outside the downtown area.

The 555 bus departs Don Mueang for the new airport every 30 mins from the departures level of the Domestic Level - cost is 34 baht and delivers you to the bus station at the new airport. From there you can take a free airport bus to the terminal, every ten minutes. Or you can take a luxury coach to Pattaya for 106 baht. If non of those things appeal you can take the 555 back to Don Mueang.

so you arrive at suv-pumi at 22.20, I presume international, so wont be out till 23.00 or later?

yes, the buses (the big run 24 hrs, the vans only daytime, but I dont know till what time.

BUT; Don Muanng AIRport will be CLOSED for the day at 22.00 or so, last flight, AFAIK.

at Suv-pumi BOTH bus and VAN lve from the BUSsttaion, where you get with the free white shuttlebus.

BOTH will set you down (and also pick up) at the normal busstops at the main highway (TO DMuang this means you need to cross that via steep+narrow stairway).

BOTH 554 + 555 run to Rangsit VIA Don Muang, but the VANS end at Don Muang (=the old INternational terminal) thse will people let off at any busstiop too, provided you tell driver just before, the vans tipically have veryu, very limited luggage space

Does anyone know of any transport going direct from D.Mueang to Pattaya please other than a taxi ?

I had several bad experiences with them when there was only that airport in commission.

At the moment my plan is to get the 555 to the new airport and either get the bus at the Transit Bus station or get the shuttle bus to the airport and from there, get the Bell bus service.

Regarding the Suk alternatives, i,m basing my choice of the 2 on the timing when i get to the transit area to fit the schedule.

Assuming there isn,t an alternative direct from D.M. to Pattaya of course.

It,s a pity they stopped the A/C buses that used to drop me off at the Ekami bus station ( i think )???????????

Any observations and exp. welcome and much appreciated as always. :o

Suvarnabhumi to Don Muang - confirm: shuttle bus to airport bus terminus; almost at the same place as the shuttle bus drops you oof there is a row of counters that sells tickets for the mini bus service. You can see "Don Muang" above the counter.

Pay 40ThB and wait for your departure - seems to be every 15 - 30 mins. takes around 40 mins BUT be aware that they will drop you on the main road (Vipawani) near the railway station - no big deal unless you have a load of heavy baggage - you need to cross the road by via the foot bridge and then diagonally across the car park. Best bet, when you can see the domestic terminal on your right motion to the driver to drop you at the bottom of the footbridge steps - don't know if that's the official dropping off point of not but it has worked for me.

Finding the mini bus service added to an interesting range of options for Suvarnabhumi to DM -- AOT Limousine taxi ThB 1050 (does anyone really pay that???); "muggings if I fall for it" taxi tout 800THB; public taxi downstairs around 250 THB plus toll; 555 bus 34 ThB; mini bus 40 ThB

I have not done the reverse route but was told by Information that there are two return buses - 555 from bus terminus and minibus picking up on main road -- cannot confirm either and would welcome any info on this DM to S trip

Cheers

When i lived in Pattaya i used to pre book with the same company who took me to the airport.

The fare was standard and hassle free.

I also got the same driver who was very dependable.

I then moved North and used to get the A/C bus from domestic to Ekamai on my visits " pre Suk " days.

Now i,m sick of the hassle / inconsistancy and find the best way ( in my experience anyway ) to transfer with guaranteed simplicity is via the 555 bus but have to go via D.M., Suk. then onto Patta,s via one of the 2 recognised bus services.

Yes, it,s a fair time, but at least i get to Pattaya by around mid day and just walk across the road to the Garden Resort to check in on a pre booking.

I,d have hoped they would have re organised something along the lines of what used to be in place before at D.M. especially as most of the domestic transfers go via there again, if indeed it ever stopped.

Have they provided any refreshment outlets within the transit area prior to boarding yet as many passengers would appreciate this, i,m sure.

Generally the buses are safer as well and usually go direct from A-B, unlike certain of the taxis.

IMHO of course.

O.K. i may be ranting on a bit but surely after 11 months something could be organised that is a bit more dependable and reliable.

Sorry I can't give exact detail (it was not me that used this service) but there is a shuttle mini-bus between DM and SUV direct, no bus stations etc in the middle, flat fare 50 Baht per person. Directions etc were given by Thai Air check-in staff.

taxi 50 baht to Mochit (nothern bus therminal) and bus to Pattaya (about 100baht). They don't depart as often as from ekkamai.

as to don muang - suvarnabhumi - from the 1st of october all buses from suvarnabhumi depart from the airport terminal, no need to travel to the transportation centre by the shuttle bus

there is a lot of cheating now....even taxis refuse to do the meter and the counter also tells some higher amount written on a piece of unofficial paper.
