Including on a one-way street.

LOL! TRUE! A one way street does not always mean the same for all Thais!

What it means to a Thai is that they are only going one way, so what's the problem.

You seem to be implying that the foreigner didn't look.  If that's the case why did the motorbike driver drive off?

People often don't look properly when crossing the road

People often don't slow down when they see pedestrians

In Thailand, you got to look left, right, left, right, left, right, left and right before getting to the other side.

I think you forgot , front back up and down

I see people every day when on my motorbike not looking whilst crossing, Thais and falang, do you see them in Thailand?

Do you slow down when you see them, or are an aficionado of the local's 'shoot-the-gap' game now?

when I see an older western male in Pattaya wearing a dress out at night

Where did you see that in relation to this thread?  There is a photo in the OP and a couple of others in the link which shows a woman in a dress wearing a black crash helmet.

How does this minor story rate being the top news item in my newsfeed?  Other than it happened in Pattaya, it should have, if even covered, been in the middle of the newsfeed blurb list.  Actually in the middle, two teens were killed, not just slightly injured, in a brawl in Bangna. That story should have ranked much higher than the motorcycle incident but, Bangna, not Pattaya, so, apparently, not as important.

Have to think that many will look the wrong way if they do.

(The bikes might well be going the wrong way too!)

Must say I get very nervous around Buakhao/Lengkhee myself on foot.

Yep so you have to look many times usually

So why are you not running them over ?

Because I'm a good rider, on a daily basis i brake when an idiot crosses the road without looking, i nearly take out a couple of Indians a day

of course I'm careful, been riding 25 years, but many people on the road are beginners or just poor riders so not looking when crossing the road is just stupid

look to the left, look to the right,  and if deemed safe .... then cross quickly.

More. Evidently, Brits have never learned the critical Step 3 for safe crossing. Perhaps they relied too heavily on the lollipop ladies when growing up, who didn't teach them properly. Obviously, one was needed right here in front of this bar.

OK, watch and learn.

It's back to Square One. If only this injured Brit had posted here FIRST, before he'd tried crossing a road in Thailand.

You may continue your studies from there, and stay alive.

Not possible, unless they are blind. They have to be looking somewhere and traffic can be coming from any direction.
