My sister-in-law is selling a 7 rai plot in Pak Thong Chai, Nakhon Ratchasima. I said I would help her find a buyer. When you look at the Land Department map it shows that all the neighbours have extended their property into land that sits between their chanote and the government forest. My wife said this is not unlawful and she thinks it is something listed in the land department register that allows the landowner to do this. Does anyone know what the legal status of this land is as, in effect it turns 7 rai into 10 rai. I attach the land department map and a view from Apple Maps.

Soldiers patrols our borders and take pics of each landboarder marks, but we are next to an National park. Neighbors steel little bit by little bit, kill original trees after fires, and plant their fruit trees. They have been warned several times, so just waiting for them to take action. Since Im a foreigner we keep a buffer zone to make sure we do nothing wrong.

Locals seems to push their luck if no consequences

I was most surprised that the neighbour to the north with at least 30 rai built their house outside their chanote.

Sure that is not Por Bor Tor 5 land? Quite normal for Thais to build on land given by the King. Land given by government is more unsecure

Same everywhere in rural Thailand. The peasants inch forward, and occasionally the government beats them back or does a deal ...
