Tourist Dies Falling Through Railings in Rayong

July 24, at approximately 13:40, the Sunthornphu Subdistrict Municipality Rescue Center received an emergency call,reporting an accident involving an injured person who had fallen from a height at a resort, Village No. 2, Chak Phong Subdistrict, Klaeng District.

 

Rescue personnel discovered an injured foreign man, identified as a Finnish national. The man had leaned against a wooden balcony railing, which broke, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground. He was found unconscious and unresponsive.

 

Rescue workers from Sunthornphu Subdistrict Municipality performed CPR at the scene for approximately 20 minutes. The injured man was then transported by emergency medical staff from Klaeng Hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

RIP, health and safety is non existent in Thailand, just be extra careful, don't trust any 'safety' barriers or handrails, balconies or stairs

oh dear '   the timber must have been rotten and therefore brittle from the rain and exposure.

 

leaning on the railing with elbows out and maybe having a smoke,  it may be possible the nails and wood gives way and collapses at the joins. 

 

I hope they repair the balcony properly next time. 

 

 

The poor guy is Finnish

Unlucky accident, these things frequently happen in the west as well, the guy should have been more aware about what he was leaning against
