Thaksins medical charade and secret deals to evade justice was a public display of corruption that will not be forgotten.

You have to go back a fair bit further than that to understand that Thaksin should never have been charged under the law used to “imprison” him to start with back in 2006.

Whatever one thinks of Thaksin he did nothing that isn’t done daily here by the wealthy both before 2006 and since. They just wanted him gone.

Everything since 2006 has been about ensuring powerful popular leaders are contained and the old powers retained.

Anyone asserting that Thaksin is the problem either chooses to ignore reality or is ignorant of it.

Srettha never had any popularity to begin with. He is a stooge PM, and everyone knows it. He has accomplished nothing. He is the do nothing PM.

The thing about Srettha is that he has at least the appearance of NORMALCY. Something which Thailand could do with large doses of.

A lot of self promoting assorted political pack animals of soi dogs snapping at the heels of Thailands and Srettha' heels. Certainly not for the benefit of the nation as a whole. Such a shame Thailand was blocked from getting the government it deserved

and his 15 years in exile...........just a charde too? I wish people would educate themselves better on the facts instead of regurgitating propogannda in a vain attempt to appear knowledgeable and relevant.

A lot of Thais are to the point where they wish the Prayut would return to "over-power" them all.

Thaksins court refusal to travel to Dubai before his court case will not prevent his escape to the billionaires playground if he is convicted.  For many decades convicted  Thai politicians and family members manage to escape justice by fleeing to a life of luxuary  abroad

Some have fleed to escape injustice.

Anutin is being quietly lined up for the PM position, PTP needs his party to survive, they'll only get his backing if he gets the top job.

"Anutin is being quietly lined up for the PM position,...."

I do honestly hope not - for the sake of the country and the sake of the farang ex pat community. There'll be a few on their way out of the country if that happens (and not just the dirty unwashed ones  - without their masks!)

The man is no diplomat, that's for sure, and even as Health Minister, he showed his lack of knowledge of even the current legislation regarding his own job when he was refused admission to an important meeting of leaders in Europe because he did not have the necessary vaccination certificates! 🙂  And his penchant for U turns makes any decision he makes questionable at best, which would not sit well with other countries representatives or leaders.

For instance, should he (Buddha forbid!) become Prime Minister, I wonder what would become of the Government's cannabis policy, bearing in mind his personal financial investment in the trade?

If they were serious, six months ago already they'd have been writing that Thaksin had been told to stop planning to replace Srettha with his daughter. The fact that this is only now becoming an issue just tells us that the political wind has changed direction a bit. No doubt, the puppet master will be working hard to make the political weather more favourable for his family again.

The fact other people behave badly is no excuse to support Thaksin.

MFP won the election on a campaign to change unjust laws. Did Thaksin help or hinder that objective???

The unjust laws wouldn’t exist if the last 18 years hadn’t happened.

Thaksin did what he had to do to get out of an effective exile. He’s no saint but I am responding to an entire thread which seems to be making him the issue when he’s the closest the country came to a counter to its actual issues.

This is true, and that $800 million smile doesn't hurt either. If only he was a man of action, and if only he believed even a little bit in what he is doing, and cared for the masses one iota.

15 year in SELF IMPOSED exile together with his sister to evade juctice. His antics on his return show how someone with money and a degree in justice can manipulate the Thai legal system.

Justice? You mean the mob that had assembled and had instructed the coutrs to find him guilty even before a trial had begun? Would you be happy with that type of justice? His enemies had no intention of him receiving justice - it was a lynch mob.

Do you remember the two million baht bribe his lawyer tried to hand over to a judge in a lunchbox??

Thaksin is part of the problem not the solution

He was the catalyst for those who have held the country back to do so even harder.

He’s no longer the solution but they now act even sooner to destroy those who might be because of what Thaksin did.

I find it interesting that you direct none of your criticism at those who are the real problem 🙂

And here we are. Yes sure he was the victim of trumped up charges which were driven by money and power but hey he allegedly offered a bribe - so that’s a hanging offence.

Your yellow slip is showing 🙂
