I went to see Urologist for enlarged prostate symptom a few years back and had a list of possible medications which could be appropriate. Showed him and he said 'which one do you want to take'?

Not seen the video, but yes.....I have hypertension and recently had an MRI which indicated 'moderate cerebral small vessel disease, SVD'......a precursor to dementia, strokes, MCI etc...... and almost certainly due to the hypertension.

 

Get that blood pressure down!!!!

Recently watch a doco about low dose LSD and people suffering dementia.... the results were jaw dropping.

 

wish I had of known... woulda fed my mother LSD instead of spunking the coin to put her in a care facility !

Yes, your systolic BP (top number) is too high if this reading was taken at rest.

 

And your pulse pressure (difference between top and bottom numbers) is extremely  wide. Sometimes this can just be due to an erroneous reading of the bottom number (common with home machines, even the best) and sometimes due to cardiac problems. You should consult a cardiologist, especially since you have a history of heart problems.

I keep a daily chart going back years.

going back and looking up to chaging to local Village Hospital, [Covid time] my monthly reading were near the same

Blood Sugar 112   Blood Pressure  daily monthly adverage  121/78

 

Past 3 years at local Hospital advrage monthy reading = 170 + over  71

 

Local Hospital = No Have, on a few of my Meds so were changed + on others dosage changed + no end of Vitimins tablets addred  = 11 Vitimin tablets taken every day..

 

Biggest change was Blood Sugar used to take Metformin 3 x day + 18 units of Insulin morning + 12 units evening.

Local Hspital 1x metormin mrning + 35 units of Insulin morning + 24 units evening.  [often take less as go in my readings]

 

Do you or anyone use/can advise  Bang Yai Government Hospital ? not sure I can face the long trip to Red Cross  Hospital anymore........... Don't want to change to a worst Hospital

Sometimes they just don't know and everyone reacts differently. She was a bit surprised ay my night time incontinence (think my prostate is slightly enlarged), but upon some research I did  find that this is a side effect, albeit a rare one. I schooled her that evening 😄 So anyone with prostate problems should probably avoid CCB's.

Community hospital (lowest level of government hospital). It will not have a cardiologist.  

 

In that genrral area you could try the Mahidol Golden Jubilee Medical Center.

 

For that matter Siriraj (arguably the best govegnment hodpitdl in ghe country) would still be much closer than Red Cross Hospital. 

 

There are also a number of private hospitals in this general area  that are mainly used by the Thai middle class so much less expensive than the "international" hospitals  though of course still more than government. Thonburi Hospital, Thonburi 2 hospITal, ChAo Phya for example (woulD help if I knew more exactly where you live).

Out in the stick for past 20 years near Sai Noi, about 80 baht Taxi to Sai Noi Hospital

 

No longer drive, so must use Taxi or Mini Bus, [2 Mini Buses go by Village 2x a day 10 am + 3:30 pm]  there is a 6 wheel truch Bus goes by from 5 am every 2 hours but is to difficult for me to get on....... at least if I went back to Red Cross easy on Public Transport, [can get a lift 3 people go past most morning between 4 am & 5:30 am] to the Pruple Line end station

I really do not know which hospital you mean when you say  "Red Cross".  Do you possibly mean Chulalongkorn Hospital in central Bangkok?

 

Do nto confuse the3 cost of being an inpatient at a private hospital with costs of simple consultation (usually 1,000 - 2,000 baht, but do not get meds at hospital)

 

Anyhow go to a major hospital or medical center which has a cardiologist, up to you which one.

Update 

 

past 4 weeks been taking 100mg of LOsartan  !! = may have nothing to do with it but have a bad   Eye /Vision problem + always tired + headache 24/7 + CKD [ is a side effects of LOsartan ? ]

but BP is still high or the 1st number is  155-165 over 57 - 68.........    High/Low

 

again next week Friday to Dr  ar Sai Noi Hospital, from what I can see if you need to change a Med you have to tell the Dr what you want instead..!! [see if they stock it]

 

I have via web searching, but is this OK to the following

 

Atenotol 50 mg with Enalapril Maleate 20mg [had for years up to changing to local Hospital - [3 hours public travel  each way + Covid changed  2020 to local Hospital]  -   or     Enalapril Maleate and Hydrochlorothiazide 20/12.5 mg      any advice please ?   Need he 1st number down, not the 2nd number

Amlodipine and occasional ramipril tabs , but I find my regular hikes uphill brings my bp down the next day very low ,no doubt strenuous exercise helps bring my bp down

Enalapril is chemically telated to lidinopril so if allergic to one, likrly will be to the other. 

 

Ard you sure it is an actual allergy sd opposed to side effects?

Guess side effects  they all caused bad feet swelling after a month  after 6 months had all legs swollen, ended up in a wheelchair as the pain was so bad.  Chula Hospital after many visits put me back on Atenotol 50 mg with Enalapril Maleate 20mg [taking this since 1991 - 2015 + 2018 - end 2020]

 

 Sai Noi Hospital, in 2021 did not stock so put on Losartan

This is not an allergy.

 

Leg/foot swelling is known side effect of cslcium channel blockers (amlidopine and thd other ***pines).  It is not a side effect of ACE blockers like lisinopril and enalapril.

 

You do not need to get enalapril and atenolol at a hospital. Available and very cheap at any pharmacy.

Yes maybe will do if the Hospital has none. will ask to go back on ACE blockers   all Meds appear cheaper at the Hospital pharmacy + Most important to me is Insulin have tried over the years every Pharmacy within a 15 km radius  NOT one sells Insulin, so have to get at the Hospital, 18 km away is one Pharmacy that sells but cost double the  Hospital price...  

 

No idea if my reasoning is true - if I had to be taken to Hospital, then all Med's are on Hospital file

You can tell doctor what you sre taking that you get at the pharmacy. Then on your revord.

 

Insulin is a different matter from the BP meds. You can get the BP meds at mist pharmacied  and cost diffetence will be very small. These are   inexpensive meds.

Yes but again is which Pharmacy.  Pharmacy I use for other thing is good and cheap, nearest to me is very expensive

eg: last week went in to get 3" x 3" gauge pack  16 baht, my normal Pharmacy is 7 bahr same brand /size so over double the price.

 

Found over the years prices vary in different Pharmacys  even one next door to each other + some by a lot.

I don't think Valsartan helps down there, if any, it does the opposite. But it works, alas not immediately - takes a few days to bring numbers down.

You could get Valsartan as Diovan in 80 or 160 mg version from Diamond Pharmacy in soi Wang Lang (also known as Soi Sirirat) at about 720 baht for 28 pills of 160 mg.

Diamond Pharmacy sells Lantus Solostar basal insulin at 750 baht per one (lasts up to 28 days, in total about 300 units of insulin per pen). This is one you only inject once per day and lasts between 23 and 25 hours. You can buy needles separately at same pharmacy or get them online.
