Trump Claims Harris Is 'Afraid' to Debate on Fox News Amid Debate Controversy

In a heated exchange that has further fueled the political drama leading up to the 2024 election, former President Donald Trump has accused Vice President Kamala Harris of being "afraid" to debate him on Fox News. This assertion comes despite Trump's own withdrawal from a previously agreed debate on ABC News set for next month.

 

"Kamala Harris is afraid to debate me on Fox News," Trump wrote on Truth Social early Tuesday morning. "She will be easier to defeat on the debate stage than Crooked Joe Biden, just watch!" This statement was made in the context of Harris's campaign increasing pressure for Trump to engage in a debate with her, following President Biden's recent withdrawal from the race.

 

Trump and Biden had initially agreed to a September 10 debate hosted by ABC News. However, with Biden no longer in the running, Trump has shown reluctance to commit to the debate. He has questioned the necessity of participating if he is leading in the polls, a sentiment he echoed during his absence from the GOP primary debates.

 

"I mean, right now I say, why should I do a debate?" Trump told Fox Business Network host Maria Bartiromo last week. "I'm leading in the polls. And, everybody knows her, everybody knows me."

 

A few days later, Trump announced his acceptance of a debate to be hosted by Fox News on September 4, stating he would not attend the ABC-hosted debate. This decision has sparked a strong reaction from the Harris campaign, which accused Trump of seeking refuge in Fox News to avoid a more challenging confrontation.

 

"Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out," said Michael Tyler, a communications representative for the Harris campaign. "He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on September 10. The Vice President will be there one way or the other to take the opportunity to speak to a prime-time national audience."

 

The Harris campaign's stance is that Trump is trying to evade a direct confrontation, despite Harris recently securing enough delegates to become the Democratic nominee. This development has added momentum to her campaign, which continues to gain traction.

Recent polling data, such as a CBS News/YouGov poll released on Sunday, showed Harris with a narrow 1-point lead over Trump nationally and a tied position with him across key battleground states. This polling suggests a competitive race, emphasizing the high stakes of the proposed debates.

I think Trump has a point about his request to use another news station to host a debate. ABC is of course very biased left-wing. He already did a debate on their channel. So he should be allowed to choose where his next debate is going to be in all fairness. What is Harris afraid of on where to do the debate? She is only using this as a smear tactic for her party to use against Trump with no valid reason. Trump should be permitted to choose where he debates next.

Trump's suing ABC and George Stephanopoulos and his lawsuit has been given permission to proceed. Thus ABC and he have a conflict of interest. Have the debate moderated by the org you're suing? I don't think so!

Being on stage with Trump would elevate Harris and be to her advantage, until she's shredded. He has the right to negotiate terms this time.

I think Harris should agree to debate him where ever and whenever she can. She end up looking strong by accepting a debate on hostile ground. Why not? She will beat him regardless. He is very scared, and he should be. He is losing the plot, getting more senile, incoherent, and wierd by the day, plus he is very, very old. 

 

On top of that, he is so lacking in creativity and intelligence. He is a broken record. Same thing every speech. Except when he rambles about sharks, and Hannibal. That is actually his idea of a joke. Nobody laughs. He is so narcissistic, he does not even know when he is not funny, which he never is, as he does not have the capacity, or creative juice for humor. 

 

Harris/Walz is a formidable ticket. I predict a victory by at least 11 million votes, and a 20 delegate margin. Then, time for Trump to disappear into humiliation and disgrace. And take his toxic family with him. He will become irrelevant after his second defeat.

Yeah, right. I'm SURE it has to do with the legal issues, similar to the reasons why he couldn't provide his tax returns since they were "being audited". How's that audit going 8 years later? I think it may have ended up with the incredible, amazing, way way way better than Obamacare Health Care Plan and now that the lawyers have it, sorry, you STILL can't see it years later. Unfortunately the Infrastructure Plan was accidentally included with the Health Care Plan, and it's now in the hands of the lawyers too! If ONLY they would let these amazing incredible plans be released, we'd all see how intricate and brilliant they are, after all Trump's always had a major interest and command of all those details - did you know his uncle was at MIT, very smart!

I've been asking you guys these same questions, and none of you has given me a reasonable attempt at an answer. Why are all the great musicians, actors and other creative artists ALL on the Left? Like, do you HAVE to be Woke to be any good at all in music or acting or art? Why are the Right so uncreative and boring? Fortunately the answer can't be found in a Kid Rock song otherwise I'd have to actually listen to one.

1: The previous debate (both Biden and Trump were presumptive candidates) was run by CNN not ABC.

 

2: Both debates were the subject of considerable negotiation. It must have been known that the first debate would be between the presumptive candidates, and very obviously the second between the actual selected candidates. By definition the presumptive candidate is not necessarily the actual candidate. In this case the Democrat candidate has changed.

 

The agreed moderation specifically does not allow for one candidate to "shout over" another, and it is intended to improve factual accuracy. Since it is very much Donald Trump's style to lie and browbeat his opponents, it will be very much in his interest to affect a change in debate hosts, and in particular to one (Fox News) which is frankly less likely to reign in Trump.

 

The essentials of the agreed debate have not changed - the actual candidates and the agreed conditions. Trump is merely trying to change the rules, to his advantage.
