Conor McGregor's Presidential Bid: The Fighter Who Wants to Lead Ireland
He hardly beat him up. He flicked a hand into him. The guy didn't even bother getting up off his barstool, just carried on sipping his drink. It was a very stupid thing to do, but let's not pretend he beat him up. I mean, it's not like he removed his winter fuel allowance and let him freeze to death. Alleged cocaine use. When in Rome... Seriously though, that was part of a MMA fight promotion, fighters often do silly things to promote a fight. Like I said he's not my cup of tea, but Ireland has far bigger social issues right now than the fact a potential President once got into a bar scuffle. It's not like he was drink driving like VP pick Walz. I'd certainly like to see him run. It would be good to see a straight talker like him highlighting the issues that Ireland faces right now. -

Labour's Britain: A Landscape of Bluster and Inaction
It’s my opinion, Brian. I figure anyone who can’t figure out that car park was not built since Jul 5 is a bit dead in the head. -

Must Read Its Happening - Law to Tax Overseas Income Now in Progress
The 2 banks I bank with in my home country have already sent me there amended policy stating that they will pass on my information to 3rd parties, i.e. government departments, affiliated groups etc, so much for privacy. What I would really like to know is, ok, they have implemented the remittance tax, so we can't avoid that, unless you bring cash into the country and cash that in at gold shops or get a Thai to exchange it at an exchange like Superrich, not a bad thought. The BIG question I have is, if, they pass this proposed worldwide tax, will they double dip, e.g. if I made $50k from investments and they wanted tax and I paid it, what happens if I then remit that amount, do they double dip ? The world through my eyes is becoming a bad place to live. -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
i’m not entirely sure why you’re asking for proof. just a few points: do all shops and street vendors earning less than 10k per month ? are all shop's and seller's registered and paying taxes? do all thai people working in the entertainment and tourism industries pay their taxes? are illegal earnings and income from corruption and grey / side market activities subject to taxation? do all freelancers (facebook selling, etc) pay taxes? ... if you really believe that only a small portion of thais commit tax evasion and need proof of that, then i can’t help you ... i agree that there are foreigners who don’t have to pay taxes due to the DTA and exemptions, or because of low pensions. however, not all countries have such generous treaties like the US with thailand, some have no treaties at all. if these individuals receive pensions certain sum of pension, they could already be paying taxes. i think it would be wrong to look the whole situation from just one perspective. there are foreign tax residents who sustain their lives in thailand also through investments, rental income (apartments/houses), stock market etc which results in paying taxes! some other situation, someone like to buy a car, land, house, or has to pay medical expenses with earnings (no savings before 31.12.2023). in all these situations, taxes must be paid ... just a reminder, taxes are progressive, ranging from 5% to 35%, which can result in a nice tax payment ... a easy, nice little earn for the TRD! as we all know, this little change for the tax law aims to close a loophole (used primarily by thai's), and we foreigners were not the reason for the law change. however, in my opinion, this does not mean that we are exempt from complying with this law. in a few years, it will become clear which group of us foreigners acted with foresight ... -

Girlfriend approved for US tourist visa but worried about airport immigration
Agree, I live in SF and when I travel, as an American, I have no respect for those power hungry assh&&ls at the SF Immigration center. Power trip is an epidemic with that group. Can't wait for AI to replace them. -

Thai woman left blind and disfigured after misdiagnosis
Some may be but many are not or dont seem to consider diagnostic testing for proper treatment especially in govt hospitals. In the south or outside of the bigger cities. They also dont like to be questioned or contradicted once they decide what the problem is in their mind.
