ED visa school fee 1 year

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a friend who wants to take a year ED visa, one school offered 1 year for 56 000 bahts and he has to start to a specific date.

13 years ago I did the same and it costed 20 000 only, just had to notify my residency every 3 months. Did the price changed that much?

Why lose lots of money for only one year visa when is possible to apply for a METV visa and stay here for one year or even more? It's really much cheaper, 5000thb and now is possible to get 60 days exemption for unlimited times. I really don't understand why folks want to spend all this money for just one year ed visa. You can learn Thai language with a beautiful Thai girl

In my opinion 56000 for a visa is a big scam. Typical in Thailand

No, the price went down which is why is 36,000 more. SMH

A METV would at most only allow a stay of 270 days.

Have you shopped around?

Is that the cheapest price that you have found?

5 years ago the going rate was 22k thb excluding visa renewal fees (3 * 1900).

Nowadays, consider METV or visa runs on a SETV.

Can do border run after that

METV is above 50 for retirement, my friend is 47.

Yes it was 20k without the 1900, I don't remember well, I think I didn't need to get out of the country but had to pay 1900 every 3 months. The 56 K my friend talked about include the 1900, but that's only 8 k saved, still at least 48 k for a year.

SETV could work? how many border run are allowed now?

The METV is not restricted by age.  With that, one can extend each 60-day entry from it for 30 additional days for 1900 Baht, and must then do a border-bounce for a new 60-day permitted-stay.  Or, one can just border-bounce every 60-days.

The other you mention, I assume, is an Education-based Visa + extensions from a language school.  With that one does not need to border-bounce for a year.  Given availability of the DTV, I am not sure why anyone would use it, other than they cannot show 500K in a bank somewhere (does not have to be a Thai bank).

There is no stated-limit on land-border "bounces" now - just as there has not been by air.  One may need to pay some sort of agent to do them repeatedly - with each border / entry-point setting its own policies.  One can also do these "bounces" by-air, if one pays an agent who works with immigration at the airport.
