Listened to the interview and didn't cringe like in most Trump's interviews. Questions were tough although some were gentle. Kamala did fine and handle the questions well. Her momentum will continue to ascend.

Sounds like sour grapes to me, when your candidate is only able to raise 130 million, and Harris in the same period is able to raise over 500 million. Sorry, but she simply a lot more popular. I watched it. They made a point to say it was unedited. Much longer than 18 minutes what they showed. Followed by a discussion by parties on both sides. Something tells me you wouldn't watch CNN. Poison for Trumpies.

I thought she did ok. No big gaffes and reasonable answers. Didn't like her answer on what she'd do on the first day - had a chance to win over some converts but talked too generally - talked about handouts to first home buyers - leaves a big chunk of people thinking what are you going to do for me. Nothing that inspirational but not too bad.

She occasionally asked a follow up question but never actually dug deep. Just accepted whatever answer Harris (and rarely Walz gave) and moved on.  This was a gentle and friendly little chat.

 

As an aside, the optics were strange. Why did Walz sit directly opposite the interviewer, and not Harris? Having Harris in the middle made her look phusically small and definitely not in control.

I'm not sure she denied it - but said her values are the same and that she decided the benefits of fracking could go one while still dealing with the realities of warming. Bit wishy washy but not unreasonable to have a different opinion 5 years later - same as Trump has changed opinions on a range of issues.

Dana tells me unedited. Dana wouldn't say that if she meant chunks of stuff were discarded I think. 2 guys on the internet say different. No talk of editing out chunks on google. Stoner can prove his claim and he wins otherwise he loses.

As I noted elsewhere she asked some tough questions that you guys raise - why not more done earlier on inflation, border, about defending Biden's bid for second term, about Tim Walz's record - so not bad. She did follow up on it a bit too. It wasn't a soft suck up Fox Trump interview by any means.

It seems like a smart move. With her nomination as President coming late in the election process, being able to show your Vice President to the voters, and both respond to questions on a real news channel as opposed to a self-confessed entertainment channel seems like a good idea. It is all a very compressed timeline for both of them.

I presume the public want to see them in action together to get a feel for how they will get on as a key part of government.

Follow ups yes, occasionally. But no real push back, no fact checking, and just accepting the word salad answers that did not address the questions.  To be honest, Bash did a bit better than I thought- she DID try, but I am sure was hampered by her instructions from her bosses and her reluctance to make Harris look bad. 

 

I did notice that almost everything bad that happened while she was VP was Trump's fault somohow. She talks as if she were not the incumbent VP.

“There’s no question I’m in favor of banning fracking, and starting with what we can do on Day 1 around public lands,” Harris said at the time.

 

A few months later, "I will not ban fracking".

 

She has all the political backbone of an amoeba.

 

Harris’ campaign also confirmed this week that the vice president no longer supports a single-payer health care system.

The vice president’s shifting stances on health care plagued her throughout her 2020 campaign.

 

At one time she supported abolishing ICE, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Now she wants to fund it more and portrays herself as the immigration Wyatt Earp.

 

After the Floyd protests Harris supported defunding the police. Now? She does not support it anymore.
