CLAIM: The U.S. government gives immigrants who cross the country’s border illegally, smartphones with unlimited texting and internet access. REALITY False. Immigration and Customs Enforcement does give some immigrants phones. However, they can only access an app called SmartLink, which is used to monitor immigrants after they cross the border. The devices are not connected to a cellular network and cannot be used to browse the internet, make unauthorized phone calls, or access apps other than SmartLink. CLAIM: Free meals, hotel vouchers, free medical REALITY: False. The major federal public benefits programs have long excluded some non–U.S. citizens from eligibility for assistance. Programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program), nonemergency Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and its precursor, Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), are unavailable to undocumented immigrants and people in the United States on temporary visas. The US government as a signatory of international treaties does assist refugees under its refugee assistance programs. These people are legally admitted to the USA as refugees. It is called humanitarian aid. Much of the assistance is provided by NGOs such as the Salvation Army, Jewish Community Services, Catholic Community Services and other faith based organizations. CLAIM: The federal government is giving credit cards to migrants living in the U.S. illegally. REALITY: False. The federal government had a program to provide SNAP and WIC beneficiaries with debit cards. It did not apply to unauthorized migrants. The cards were preloaded and were a tool to cut down on waste, only being eligible for specified classes of goods. Lottery tickets are excluded. New York City launched a pilot project to help qualifying refugees, The program was restricted to food and baby supplies. Lottery tickets, tobacco, and alcohol were blocked from purchase. The amount was restricted to $12.52 per day and was restricted to 500 families. The pilot project was intended to prevent fraud and waste associated with paper checks. The cards have demonstrated their value and contained costs and cut back on losses. They also allow the use of the cards to be tracked which helps stop fraud. Your claims are vile, evil and hateful. When I was there in spring everything fronting My Khe Beach was heaving with tourists, particularly coachloads of Koreans and to a lesser extent, Chinese and VNese. That said, the further north or further south I went on the massive stretch of sand the fewer tourists I saw. And if one stays several streets back from the sea there are some good deals on rooms - and thinner crowds. From Nguyen Van Thoai south there is a densely packed tourist "zone" w tons of hotels, restaurants, pubs, cafes, minimarts, shopping. Thins out the further west you go. It gets less crowded going north toward Pham Van Dong and beyond. Might be less busy now; I was told May-Aug is high season. If youre into playing in the waves the surf looks like its picking up steam again. -

President Biden did not appoint a border czar. There is no position in the US administration of "border czar". VP Harris had no legal authority to enforce or to apply US border or immigration laws. The only ignorance demonstrated is in those who keep insisting that the Vice President was responsible for the enactment of laws (Congress is) or the enforcement of laws (Department of Homeland Security and CBP is). -

Mr. Falau was taking money subject to conditions. One of the conditions was not to make statements that would harm people or offend the people who were paying him. He was not asked to do anything illegal or immoral. In what world do you expect anyone to be obliged to pay someone who is expressing views contrary to the best interests of the business enterprise paying the person? Mr. Falau was not stopped from expressing his sentiments. He was however, not going to be paid for stating things that went against his employer. Your logic holds that you expect a burger seller to sponsor a person who says that meat is murder. Mr. Falau can say whatever he wants, but it is unreasonable to expect people who do not share his social views to be forced to pay him for expressing views that alienate the customer base, the same base that generates the funds that paid his large salary. -
