webfact Posted September 1 Posted September 1 A Pattaya city official allegedly slapped an intoxicated Thai bar worker during a confrontation, sparking public outrage. A video clip currently going viral on Thai social media reportedly shows a confrontation between a Pattaya city official and a female bar worker that escalated to physical violence. According to the footage, the official, a municipality worker, appeared to slap the bar worker in the face before attempting to force her into the back of a city pickup truck to be taken to the police station. The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 AM on August 27th, 2024, in front of a convenience store on Walking Street in South Pattaya. On the evening of August 31st, The Pattaya News reporters visited the scene of the incident. An eyewitness, who requested not to be named, recounted the events, stating that an intoxicated bar worker had entered the convenience store and began arguing with the staff. When the situation escalated into shouting and nearly a physical altercation, the store contacted Pattaya City’s special operations officers, aka the municipality, to intervene. A city patrol vehicle soon arrived, and the officers attempted to escort the woman into the vehicle. However, she resisted, leading to a confrontation between her and the officers. The eyewitness stated that they did not see the officer strike the woman, only that she was taken to Pattaya Police Station to calm down. Popular Post NanLaew Posted September 1 Popular Post Posted September 1 I've seen it. The screaming slapper slaps the 'special forces' guy at least three times before he 'subdues' her. Nothing to see here, move along now. 2 1

Kerryd Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I copied part of the headline, pasted it into Google Translate, Put that into the search bar and got a number hits. This one is from the Channel 7 news. There's actually a couple of clips. Apparently she tried to file a police report against the official and - naturally - the police told her she might face assault charges for slapping the official so she dropped her charges. I guess she knew she wasn't going to win that one ! 1 1

I do? Like many western males, I was brought up to believe that it's improper to strike a woman, but no longer. This subtle change in my perception of what's not permissible when a female becomes confrontational or violent ocurred when my Lao ex-wife pulled a gun on me. As for my friend on Soi 6, unfortunately he is still in a coma.

I wonder if municipal workers have the power of kidnap and arrest?

Oh I share that sentiment.... people should not be be laying hand on others and that includes women... far too often they hide behind their gender and get physical and dangerous. Sorry to hear your friend is still ailing.. I do hope the guy who did this has been punished in some way (but fear he will be there on soi 6 again).
