Pol. Lt. Col. Somjit Sirihwaeng, Investigator at Uthai Police Station in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, responded on September 5, to a fatal traffic accident involving a pickup truck and motorcycles at the Rojana Road intersection, near the entrance of Rojana Industrial Park, Gate B, Khan Ham Subdistrict, Uthai District.

The accident left one person dead and another injured. Emergency responders from Phutthaisawan Foundation were dispatched to assist at the scene. Upon arrival, authorities found the body of Mr. Panupon Tesarin, 38, lying face-down on the road with severe head injuries. A female motorcyclist, also injured in the crash, was rushed to Rajthanee Hospital for treatment.

The accident scene featured a white sedan with the license plate Ayutthaya stopped at the intersection, alongside a blue motorcycle license plate Sakon Nakhon, which belonged to the deceased. A damaged yellow motorcycle, belonging to the injured woman, was also nearby. Approximately 20 metres away, a silver pickup truck, used as a rescue vehicle, license plate Ayutthaya, was found overturned on the median strip.

According to the sedan driver, he had been waiting at the red light to make a U-turn, with the two motorcycles stationed next to his vehicle. Suddenly, a speeding pickup truck approached and struck the motorcycles and the sedan, resulting in the injuries and fatality.

Mr. Adisak Wisetkan, 32, the pickup driver and a volunteer with the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, claimed that he was driving home on Rojana Road towards the Uthai intersection. As he reached the traffic lights, they were green but turning amber. He attempted to pass through the intersection, but as he crossed halfway, the motorcycle ridden by the deceased entered the intersection. Mr. Adisak was unable to brake in time, resulting in a collision that overturned his vehicle onto the median.

Police are reviewing CCTV as the investigation continues.

Somebody is lying, more than likely the pickup driver, my wife and I have been hit several times and each of the guilty Thai drivers lied. I think its an automatic Thai reaction to blame everyone but themselves, CCTV and dashcams are the only things keeping them honest. In my opinion, anyone driving here in Thailand without a dashcam is nuts.

Remember team, never be the first or last though a set of traffic lights

the drivers of these 'meat wagons' drive like complete morons.

Slow down when it comes to amber lights will never be an option for those ambitious Thai drivers.
