Seven-Month Trial Scheduled for Red Bull Heir's Hit-and-Run Mishandling Case

THAILAND - The trial for the mishandling of the 2012 hit-and-run case involving Red Bull heir Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya has been scheduled to last seven months, as announced by the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases.

 

Eight defendants, including former national police chief Police General Somyot Poompanmoung and former deputy attorney-general Nate Naksuk, have pled not guilty to charges predominantly concerning the distortion of the recorded speed of Vorayuth’s Ferrari, which led to the victim's death. This manipulation reportedly played a crucial role in the dismissal of charges against Vorayuth.

 

During proceedings, the court made clear the trial would run for seven months instead of the typical year-long duration, reflecting heightened public interest. The court committed to fairness for all parties involved and stressed the importance of adhering strictly to the trial schedule to reach a timely resolution.

 

The defendants and their legal representatives have been advised to refrain from engaging with media to avoid influencing public opinion and maintaining trial integrity.

 

Prosecutors have prepared extensive evidence, including 30,000 pages of documents and 21 witnesses. The formal examination of evidence is set to begin on December 3.

 

The group was formally charged on August 29, following a National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) inquiry that found significant mishandling of the hit-and-run case.

All defendants have been granted bail, with the stipulation that they must not leave the country without court permission.

 

Vorayuth Yoovidhya was involved in a fatal hit-and-run on September 3, 2012, in Bangkok’s Thong Lor area. Rather than stopping to aid the victim, Police Senior Sergeant Major Wichian Klanprasert, Vorayuth fled, dragging the officer’s body about 200 metres. He later failed to report the incident.

 

After an extensive investigation, Vorayuth faced three charges but fled the country in 2017 before appearing in court. While some charges have expired, the remaining charge of reckless driving causing death, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, remains active until 2027.

Everyone gets a trial except for <drum roll> Vorayuth Yoovidhya  <slide whistle, cymbal crash - canned laughter>.  Nope, he'll just wait out the Statutes of Limitation and come waltzing back to Thailand in a manner that will make Tony's luxury hospital penthouse stay look like actual prison time - which of course the kid will completely avoid.  He'll be as free as a bird as cops are imprisoned...well, as they should be. But again - two-tiered justice.  Red Notice.  Bunk.  You can check Interpol Red Notices and he ain't got one.  Nope, the elite take care of one of their own.  Only commoners get thrown under the bus.

They will put on trial the corrupt police but after 12 years cant get the Billionaire heir of Red Bull for the hit and run death of a policeman,  the Criminal Court of corruption is just that, another laughable case of Thai justice, there is nothing that cant be paid for, life and justice means nothing, As Jerry Maguire said.  "SHOW ME THE MONEY"

I don't know if anyone can shed some light on this. I just checked the Interpol Red Notice alerts for Vorayuth Yoovidhya - nothing. I then looked for all those showing with a Thai nationality. There were about 30 of them, but his name still did not come up. "Interpol has issued a “red notice” to arrest the fugitive Thai heir to the Red Bull billions over his role in a fatal hit-and-run incident in Bangkok, police have said" from the Guardian 3 years ago.... has the Red notice been withdrawn and if so, why ? I must be missing something ????

Interesting that they are not charging the parents for aiding and abetting his escape and avoiding the law. Also they should charge whoever said there was a interpol red notice on him.

Nothing more than a charade in an attempt to purvey a sense that justice is being pursued. 
Just filling in the time between now and 2027 under the pretence that the case is being pursued.

You cannot check the entire Interpol site so you have no idea; the vast majority of notices are not viewable by the public as it is a service, primarily, for member police forces.  That is clearly stated on Interpol's site - the part that is available for the public.

You're missing the fact that most of Interpol's notices are not viewable by the public, their website confirms that.
