Lived in many different condos over the years. Most have Daikin aircons. After literally  6 months of moving in (no exceptions) every single one starts leaking.

This last one ruined a beautiful 55 inch bedroom TV from all the water leakage.

Why are they so crap?

Wow, I am so happy that I only have a 48 incher in the bedroom, with the aircon on another wall. 555

Serviced when we moved in.... in May this year.

And every landlord cleaned and changed filters on your precious Daikin when we moved in....4 times so far and every single time Daikin never disappoints with leakage.

Why did they clean filters if they were replacing them ?

If it has been cleaned and service 4 times since May..... the leakage issue is an instillation issue.

We have installed well over 100 air conditioning units, the Daikin ones are the worst we’ve installed in the last 10 years. The covers go brown, the vane cover changes color at a different rate, they are not sealed for geckos and the logic boards break. They are expensive to repair, when the outside unit goes specifically the power board it’s cheaper to throw them away and fit a new one,

We now fit TCL as standard and it’s a far superior product.

Do you recommend commercial grade ones vs domestic ?

Are these the ones that save a lot of energy costs..forgot the type of a/c that is...it varies the output or some such feedback system.

I meant 4 different condos that we changed.

We always install inverter units, they are the ones that save money.

I think the important thing to know about air-conditioning, is that in the last five or six years there has been a revolution.

It used to be the case that Mitsubishi and Dakin were considered the best and there was a world of difference between them and everything else.

That has all changed, with high-quality Chinese units exploding onto the market at very low prices. They are every bit as good as Dakin and Mitsubishi and typically between a quarter and half the price.

We only fit TCL in our villas now unless we want a heat cool unit.

do you know if tcl inverters have sealed logic boards?
i confirm what you say about daikin's super inverter, they are weak and very expensive to repair just because of the geckos getting fried on pcb, not to mention they are more expensive to buy and install. a very costly junk just based on an outdated reputation of quality.

I haven’t checked how well the TCL units seal the logic board from gecko ingress, but we haven’t had any kind of fault on any of them.

I particularly like that after a power cut or brief interruption, they just work.  Mitsubishi are the same but with Fujitsu, Carrier and Daikin I get phone calls asking how to reset them.

TCL do an internet connected unit too, we haven’t tried any of them.

It also depends on the individual AC models.

I bought Daikin ACs with WLAN remote control. I can control them from anywhere, i.e. I switch them on maybe 5min before I return home.

It's up to each of us if we want to use extra features and if we want to pay for them.

hacking wifi now, taking control of airconditioners.

I disagree.

Lived here 24 years. Only had two units in that time - both Daikin.

I only upgraded to the latest one (inverter type) when electricity went up to almost 10 baht per unit.

Very economical, ultra quiet and cools the bedroom very quickly.

I never have the a/c on all night - too cold. (Set to 29 C)

Never leaks and no trouble at all.

I'm a happy little bunny with my unit.

Is the leakage problem lack of maintenance?

When I lived in Singapore - all condo units had a maintenance contract for the a/c. Cleaned and checked every 3 months.

It was compulsory and in the lease.
