Pickup Truck Carrying Chicken Meat Crashes into Trailer Truck, Driver Killed

Police received a report of a fatal collision on September 20 at approximately 05.15, involving a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler trailer truck on Highway 21, Lopburi-Lom Sak Road. The incident occurred near kilometre marker 36, in the downhill direction towards Saraburi, on a dark stretch near Khwang Hill, Moo 8, Dilang Subdistrict, Phatthana Nikhom District, Lopburi Province. The pickup truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Upon receiving the report, Police Lieutenant Thanapol Kaewbriwong of Kok Salung Police Station, along with Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers equipped with extraction tools, rushed to the scene to investigate.

 

The crash occurred on a two-lane road on a hill without streetlights. Authorities found a white Toyota Vigo pickup truck with a cargo box, carrying fresh chicken meat. The truck's front end was severely damaged, and inside, the body of Mr. Jamlong (surname withheld), 33, of Phrommanee Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Nayok Province, was pinned in the driver's seat. Rescue workers had to use extraction tools to recover the body.

 

 

About 20 metres away, police discovered the other vehicle involved, a white Isuzu 18-wheeler trailer truck, with a minor rear-end damage. The driver, Mr. Jaroon (surname withheld), 55, of Saraburi, was waiting to give his statement to the police.

 

Mr. Jaroon told police that he regularly drives this route, and before the crash, he was hauling teak bark to Wang Muang District. While slowly climbing a hill in the left lane, he heard a loud crash as the pickup truck behind him slammed into the back of his trailer. He parked his truck on the side of the road and, upon inspecting the scene, saw the front of the pickup completely crushed. He immediately called the police.

 

Initial investigations suggest that the pickup truck was likely transporting fresh chicken from a factory in Muang Khom, Chai Badan District, Lopburi, heading towards Nakhon Nayok. Traveling at high speed, the pickup truck crashed into the slower-moving trailer truck on the dimly lit hill.

 

Mr. Jaroon has been detained for further questioning and legal proceedings. The deceased's body has been sent to a nearby hospital for an autopsy, following standard legal procedures.

The death of the driver was unfortunate, but what about the death of all the chickens? Doesn't anyone care about them?

Fun Fact: In countries with enforced  food safety regulations, the chicken would be immediately condemned and destroyed. Typically, the inspectors pour bleach on the product to prevent them from being used. I wonder if the chicken involved in this crash ended up in the market.

They weren't always dead, and I suspect some human killed them.
