Buying gold
The "craftsmenship premium" in Thailand is very low. As opposed to bid/ask spreads for physical Gold in the rest of the world. Measured by OZ (30.1 grams). Therefore, "Thai Gold", even in form of jewellery can be an attractive investement. Only thing: Buying and selling must take place in Thailand. To sell "Thai-Gold" in Europe is an advenure in itself, to be advoided if ever possible. -

There are various allowances and deductions available along with possible deductions from your countries DTA you tax bill will be some amount under ฿275,000 how much under depends on your personal circumstances it is possible, though unlikely, that you may owe no tax. The TRD has 10 years to decide if they want to audit you (only 3 if you file a return), the penalties for deliberate evasion can be severe and include prison time. One almost immediate action is to hold you in Thailand until they are satisfied that any tax due is paid. Your travel can be restricted, even if you owe no tax, until the TRD happy that your filings, or non filings, are correct and any tax due is paid. -

Is it possible to have a UK Bank account while being tax resident in Thailand?
Especially if you owe them money in one form or another. I do wonder if anyone has ever had their account closed down whilst having an ongoing loan or even long term mortgage which is paid by direct debit from the main current account which is subject to closure? Because that may not end well for the bank if they cut off the only easy way to repay things....and we all know they're not so stupid when it comes to collecting. -

Surely I am not alone and probably there are HUNDREDS of other AN members who have blocked them as well. OK, for reasons of your own (ad revenue?) you don't cancel their accounts but at LEAST stop their posts going on the newsletter. Please. -

Is it possible to have a UK Bank account while being tax resident in Thailand?
I'm intrigued by its practical functionality. Obviously it's in Pound Sterling. But as an offshore account is it linked to the free ATM usage network (the name of which escapes me) of the UK or are you charged on your bank card withdrawals (assuming you have one)? Did onshore institutions allow payments to be made to it? For example, law firms sending funds or government institutions sending payments etc. Is it on the Swift network or are movements treated as international from and to the UK? Are transfers to and from the UK free of charge? What other differences? -

pixel 7 battery replacement, where
Pixels are not officially sold by Google in Thailand, so repair technicians are generally not familiar with them. Your best bet is to visit repair shops until you find one willing to give it a shot based on online instructions or videos. They (or you) will likely need to order in a replacement battery from China. They will likely be reluctant to offer any guarantees. I was unable to find any shop willing to replace a battery in a Pixel 3 XL several years ago and ended up doing it myself. -

Just due to my idle curiosity..... Where did you attend school....meaning which country and were you at a public/private school? I attended an all-boys school.,,, And loved it. What about you? You and I are about the same age. I would like to think that you and I might be kindred spirits, of the type that have never forgotten the time when the importance of the Natural Sciences, when Science was seen as something both important and mysterious, was obvious, as we all watched Sputnik take over....and change our world. I clearly recall Sputnik flying overhead when I was young enough to have better eyesight. Those were the days when it was OK and encouraged to be interested in Pure Science, rather than.....High-Tech...without the Science, which is the case...today.... Maybe.
