They can't control their actions because they are drunk, drunken behaviour has no relevance to sober behaviour.

You do know there are different stages of drunk, right?

In Thailand, I always tend to avoid any mouthy, loud, drunk foreigners who seem to loose their heads and think they rule the place. They are usually source of trouble.

At any rate he loses his home and upon release he will be unemployed, not an ideal position to be in these days, one punch and his future is ruined.

Whereas his victim has no future as his life has now stopped.

That's the easy part, no worries.

Living among Italian-Americans back when the first-generation ones were still alive, no gathering will go to waste without some kind of dramatic confrontation.

Well, these people aren't supposed to be depicting such, but being that Pacino like to say he is a full Italian (both parents)...

I never wanted to see that movie after seeing advertisements.   Now I see it was a good decision.

No Italians in my paternal side of the family.  I barely knew my maternal side, so I don't know about them.

Yep, the best is to just find a spot in a beautiful and calm place, relax and drink what you like.

Thanks for that wonderful insight

I wonder how well these guys knew each other? Sounds like they may have simply been acquaintances. It's never a good idea to punch someone in the face when they're standing on the sidewalk or the street. Anytime someone gets knocked down to the pavement all bets are off, anything could happen. The head is so delicate, hitting it in the wrong spot can cause instantaneous death.

I know a few Aussies who tend to be quite aggressive when drunk, I know one who's been beating his wife to the point where you could barely recognize her face. Finally after several assaults she has left him, thankfully. The man does not have one redeeming quality and his entire body. I don't know how indicative he is of Australian men in general, but this guy is a real low life.

Now this Aussie bozo who was simply acting out is on the hook for murder, and will likely spend decades in The slammer. Very few hearts will bleed.

What are you on about?

The Aussie is dead, do you think they should lock him up for decades before the funeral?

Sorry I assumed they were both Aussies, of course I was talking about the perpetrator.

That happens when  you let in the riffraff from everywhere. 🥴

Brits and Aussies have always been on that list....... more recent additions seem to be less of an issue. Are we suggesting we introduce Visa requirements for them and just have the Indians, Chinese etc as Exempt? Recently read that Phuket is complaining of too many low spend tourists now!

That was a reply to another poster, but as usual MalcolmB has nothing to.

This type of event seems to be pretty  common in some anglo-saxon societies. They passed one punch laws in Australia, which raised awareness. The problem is a lot of people still consider the odd punch as not that serious; a myth propagated to a large extent by Hollywood.

I love how people here like to bash certain nationalities. Drunken stupidity happens everywhere in the world. In Thailand they will sell you booze until you drop unlike other countries where the bar would be sued if this happened. Drinking with people who you would have nothing in common with other than you're on holidays or living in Thailand can be a disaster waiting to happen.

Your rant was a bit rich coming from an American.

Over there it would have been a mass shooting.

Unfortunately aggressive people again, that can´t control and refrain from impulse action. Totally unnecessary violence, when there is an option to just say F-O and go home, as it seems they had been drinking enough and can´t control their actions.

Therefore they should not be allowed in a bar

So, 2 Brits and not one.

No doubt it was just a coincidence. These two were probably gleefully singing "my grandad killed your grandad" to a couple of passing Germans when the disagreement broke out.  With any luck the survivor will serve his entire sentence here and not back in one of those cushy UK prisons where one can identify as female and bunk with the ladies.

Decent Brits know exactly what I'm talking about and despise that element of their culture. You won't find many Yanks who know about that song, at any rate.

Witnesses and CCTV footage appear to back the allegations against the unnamed British man, though he continues to deny any wrongdoing.

If they had been  on weed they would have hugged and laughed it off.

More weed mongering. Maryjane not a harmless drug. I know someone went completely schizo on it, had to go to the loony bin. Tis just a sad case of 2 guys who never shouldve took to the drink in the first place; too many unresolved emotional traumas + hair trigger temper + cheap booze = tragedy.

Well they likely don't come in drunk and violent nor wear T-Shirts and hats advertising the fact. They are people who have yet to learn alcohol is not for them. The Thai attitude to keep selling  alcohol is not going to change... the madness of making it available to 4am was unnecessary... 'all night' venues were already to be found.
