A 74-year-old man was arrested after fatally attacking his wife’s former lover during a drunken gathering in Bueng Kan Province. The suspect, identified as Mr. Udorn (surname withheld), allegedly killed Mr. Lampong (surname withheld), 62, after the latter made unwanted advances toward Udorn’s wife, Ms. Nongyao (surname withheld), 44, during a drinking session.

On the evening of September 28, local police from Seka District, led by Pol. Capt. Wisut Ngathirach, responded to reports of a homicide in a small shack near a pond, where they discovered Mr. Lampong's body. He had sustained severe head injuries from multiple blows with a hammer and deep cuts from a machete. Investigators estimate the time of death to be around five hours prior to their arrival.

Mr. Udorn admitted to the crime, explaining that he had withdrawn the government 10,000 baht the previous day and purchased alcohol to drink with his wife. During the gathering, Mr. Lampong, a former lover of Ms. Nongyao, joined them and allegedly became intoxicated. He began making inappropriate advances toward the suspect’s wife, despite warnings from Mr. Udorn to stop.

Angered by the continued harassment, Mr. Udorn grabbed a hammer and struck Mr. Lampong multiple times in the head, causing him to collapse. Still furious, Mr. Udorn used a machete to deliver further blows, killing Mr. Lampong. After the attack, the couple continued drinking near the body before deciding to walk to the police station to surrender.

Police arrested the suspect and his wife as they were making their way to the station. Mr. Udorn was still carrying the hammer and machete used in the murder. His clothing was soaked in blood.

Ms. Nongyao supported her husband’s account, stating that Mr. Lampong had crossed the line by attempting to assault her while intoxicated, prompting her husband’s violent reaction.

Both Mr. Udorn and Ms. Nongyao are now in police custody, awaiting further legal action.
