Sex, A Path To The Dark Side?

Featured Replies

So, no one here gets sick of it being shoved in the faces?

Nope ! :D

........which reminds me......where do you think it belongs? Are there limits as to where and when for you?

Where: Anywhere (well, except for places like wats).

When: Anytime ! Is there such a thing as a bad time to have sex ? :o

I don't really get a chance to think about it. When the "old boy" says "GO" he takes over !! It's futile to resist his wishes. I think i'll call him "Borg" from now on.

Sex is a wonderful gift from God!

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

sure but :*

Egbert,archbishop of York,punished anal intercourse with 7 years penance,murder with 5 years.

Petrus Cantor opined that intercourse with a beautiful woman was a greater sin than with an ugly one because it gave more delight.

Thomas Aquinas believed that deviation from the "missionary position" was worse than intercourse with one's one mother.

St Bernadine of Sienna said that if a woman knows that her husband is going to practise cotus interrupts, she must resist her husband to the death.*

In the catholic church there seems to be a notion that the sexual act is a necessary evil.

And what luke, has that list of abominations got to do with sex being a wonderful gift from God? And what's the point you're trying to make?

In my humble opinion these abominations were established through people , and not the minor ones in the history of "faith",who ordain these was the right way the "believers" should act, with all the awful consequences these ordains brought to the common human who did not or still do not know know that sex is a wonderful gift of the god they believe in ,because no one of these so called "mouth piece" told them ,my point is that believe is a very dangerous and powerful something for the ones who have power on the weak ,and sadly not every one can make the right ordeal and is much of the time biased by the so called "chosen".

Right Luke. So sex is a wonderful gift from God, regardless of what 'organised' religion has tried to make it. IMO organised religion has nothing to do with God!

What's with this forum ?

Bops can't have a thread about his mid-life sexual crisis without the Jesus freaks wading in.

Thought you were all so enthusiastic about sex you invented the virgin birth.

FS, I don't even know what you're on about!?! Who's a Jesus freak? The virgin birth is a belief not an invention. (this was covered in that 'other' thread not too long ago, so let's not open that back up!)

Now this is a test to see if you are colour blind.

How did you do ?

:o

Sex is actually rather overrated.

The position is ridiculous, the pleasure is momentary and the cost is far too high.

Signed, President of the movement for more freely available, reasonably priced copulation.

So, no one sees a negative side? Sex is all well and good for all and a happy thing, eh? No one here thinks it's something that can be used to hurt? Did everyone here forget about rape? Pedophiles? Porn addicts? The individuals in the sex industry, really who is being used and who is doing the using in that racket?

While poeple have mentioned that it's the reason to wake up and make money and whatever, no one has mentioned that for some it's a reason to kill, abuse, degrade, cheat, and lie.

The point of this thread is just to see what people say. I feel sometimes like I am the only one who thinks the way I do. I marvel that with all the wonderful things this world and life have to offer, sex is something that takes up so much time, thought and energy. I marvel that it is used as a tool, and to great effect, to manipulate people, for people will alwasys allow themselves to be manipulated by it.

I myself dislike others thinking that a little shake of the a$$ is enough to control me. Perhaps is just foolish pride talking, but really, if one allows themselves to lose control over sex what is the difference between that and an addiction of any other kind?

Rape isn't primarily about sex. It's primarily about power.

This has become a politically correct platitude, but I don't think that it is always true. For lots of men, it is just another option as a way to obtain sex. For them, it is no worse than telling a girl that you are a Doctor, so she will give it up willingly. :o

Power through sex.....why through sex?

What?

Women give it up willingly if a guy says he's a doctor? Really? :o

If what you are saying is true, UG, and it's simply a means to get sex, albeit without consent, how do you explain the frequent incidences of extreme violence in rape? If it's purely about co-erced sex there should be no need for beating or use of weapons. Men are almost universally stronger than women, so should be able to "have their way" without extreme violence - if that's really all rape is about. How about the rape of old women? Is that because the rapist has a fetish about geriatrics? Rubbish.

I don't know. I'm not a rapist.

But to hazard a guess, I'd say that to rape a woman is the ultimate way to degrade, humiliate & violate her. The lasting effects, psychologically, from rape would be far greater than those perhaps of other violent assault. It is the ultimate way to have power over her there & then & also in the future, as she struggles to get her life back on track, very possibly with recurring thoughts of the rape, nightmares & emotions of guilt & worthlessness.

I'd say that to rape a woman is the ultimate way to degrade, humiliate & violate her

I think it is a mix of everything. Every incident is a different combination of reasons. There are rapes that are for revenges, for punishments, for power, for sexual desires and for a little bit of every of those mentioned etc.....

So I don't think one can say to rape is always ONLY for power.

And even if a man is almost always much stronger than a woman, I guess it is still going to be difficult for him to rape a woman without using violence if the woman is not co-operatative. Thus violence is almost always involved.

Of course I see a negative side!

Everythng revolves around sex in this world. Of course then there are good and bad things from it.

Why should men compete if if wasn't for sex?

BTW, where do you draw a line saying that someone has lost control over sex?

I have known a few "studs" that lie to women as part of the seduction process and bed them willingly, but under false pretences. They get laid constantly and by the most attractive females.

If you read what I said, I didn't say that it is never true that some men rape because they are turned on by having power over women, I said that other men rape because they want sex and are unable to get it otherwise and don't care if the woman consents or not (or how old she is) but power isn't their prime motivation.

In my opinion, all rapists are sickos, but they have different motivations and saying that they only have one confuses the issue. :o

I just cant give up something I am good at! :o

Me too. :D

I'm so good, I think pretty soon i'll be ready for the advanced level, to move on from doing it alone and try it with a woman :D

In the catholic church only?

All i can say is I'll thank any god personally who is responsible for catholic school girl uniforms...

Hear hear!! Now please excuse me whilst I wander off to revel in nostalgia...

Ooops, sorry, my fault, I did not put it nicely. Yes you are right those are expressions of power. But I did mention sexual desire, did I not?

So one thing I am not quite sure. What if the idea of rape excites someone? Is that also for power? For example may I suggest, quite a few men find raping women sexually arousing but will not do it for reasons like they know it is illegal or they know it harms people. Is it also to seek power then?

Actually I find it hard to define. Even during normal sex act, you can say men are actually satisfied by the feeling of gaining power. What do people think here?

That's a very good question, one I ask often. I see how much plays apart in life everyday and how much is found on TV and in song and I think, what do I tell my kids? Yeah, sex is natural and it's happy, but how do I communicate that there is point where it's too much and gone too far. I see these people on reality shows, or girls hone wild crap and think did their parents ever have a talk with them about the negative aspects of sex? Is that behavior really healthy?

Simple just be honest and tell them daddy does not have all the answers in life. Tell them what you think and let them decide what is right or wrong. Sorry actually I meant that is what I will do if I had children. :o

I kind of think that this issue is something that can be addressed and should be, for their own protection. It's the why in which it is addressed that is important.

Oki .... I've held back.... now I will comment.

Sex is sex.

Over the years I've had some great sex, fantastic sex, sex you could write songs about, sex in public places, a bay window in Wigan while the clubbers applauded, on a roundabout on the East Lancs Road, in a phone box in St.Helens, in a twitchers hide at a bird sanctuary ....... and yes.... in the toilet of a 747

I like sex.

Would you believe that I married the girl I lost my virginity to, we'd known each other from age 13 and were friends at school, we divorced at 28, she was a raving nympho, it was at least twice a night weekdays and six times a day at weekends.

Sex itself is not the path to the dark-side, unrequited love or unrequited lust may be though.
