Nato on Toast.

89 replies, and no one has mentioned Nato.

Am I the only one who eats this?

It's like beans on toast, but healthy.

Hmmmm - not sure about that.

Natto is a traditional fermented soy food also known as Itohiki-natto. It originated in the northern part of Japan about 1000 years ago. It is one of the few products in which bacteria predominate during fermentation. Properly prepared natto has a slimy appearance, sweet taste, and a characteristic aroma.

One source who recently tasted natto for the first time described it as initially nutty followed by a sharp funk—almost like extremely ripe blue cheese.

Each to their own but I think I'll stick with:-

I was confused about Nato on toast so I did a search and it seems as though it is spelled Natto, which is Japanese food.

Perhaps that is why nobody has mentioned it before.

No problem about the typo.

I had no idea what it was until I did a search and I came up with this link.

From the link I found this.

This recipe is from my cookbook ” Japanese superfoods“.
