I'm loving fine right now and messed nothing up. I asked a question and now apparently live rent free in your head. Deflecting as usual. Don't get so triggered over your small error, its not good for your health.

Point out the error.

Exactly, that´s what I thought would be your answer. So, you had nothing to come with, then, right?

So, you had nothing! Just admit now. It´s good for you.

You already admitted the issue in your first reply that was way overly long winded and unnecessary and you've been milking your position on every reply since. If your not smart enough to know what you wrote and then admitted then my grandmother was right. You can't argue with stupid

How does one hold payment for five days on a COD delivery?

It goes through a payment system that collects the payment and notify the seller of payment has been made, and release the payment to seller account five days later. Many online system and websites use such functions today. One example is Escrow payments.

The new regulation is that payment is on hold for 5 days after you get the delivery, which gives you time to complain, as well as they need more information from the seller on the package and sender information in the systems.

As far as I'm aware that has always been the case.

With Lazada you would have 7 days to confirm your order, before the seller got paid. Recently they modified that, whithout much fanfare to the customer, and now you actually have to click extend after 3 days to make it 7 days.

Shopee has always been 3 days, but you can extend it with 4 days, by clicking the extend warranty tab in the order page, so you have 7 days to confirm order received.

So what has changed?

That the system will cover all other pay on delivery parcels, all from private sellers to companies. Most of the scams and fake products originate from Facebook sellers, which was not included before.

But beside that we have as stupid people who transfer millions after a phone call from fake police, so the problem with payment at order or advance payment will still exist.

Thanks, for clarification, I never buy anything that I can't check before I pay, other than on the official sites which I mentioned.

Never in my mind would I buy something on FB if I couldn't pick up myself and check before I part with my money.

FB marketplace is one of the biggest online scams in the world, but they still get away with it

How do YOU know how long I have lived in Thailand? And that I do not speak or read Thai? My suggestion was to make it easier for Thais to understand.

I know, thais struggle to call 7-11 daily and most would prefer to call it Jed Sibet /s

this is for cash on delivery, often which the scam delivery didn't go through lazada or shopee's system, the scammer would have got your details and go directly to couriers to post bogus goods to you in hope you paid up, which the delivery guys wouldn't hand over for you to open unledd you paid up, it is now up to the delivery company that handles the money to handles dispute and hold the money now

I had an item I ordered prepaid from Lazada recently that arrived to my home broken and leaking, as could be seen from the exterior of the package. Thus I refused acceptance of the package, which I had already paid for via bank card.

At that point, via the Lazada messaging system, I tried to contact the Thailand-based seller. Over multiple days, the seller never even acknowledged the Lazada messages.

During that same time, I repeatedly tried calling Lazada's customer service phone number during their normal business hours. Every time, I got a recording and told to hold for the next available operator. Then within a few minutes each time, the call was just disconnected, dropped.

During that time, I also tried to contact Lazada via their online chat support channel during the business day when they claim to have live chat support operators. Each time, all I got was an automated chatbot response system that didn't offer any kind of option for my situation. Never was able to connect to a live chat person.

Lazada, IMHO, is a AGGRAVATING MESS if you have to deal with any problems with their orders.

Similar experience here.

Lazada not trustworthy at all, money lost.

Solution for me: only buy cheap stuff online,  under 1000.

Or from a real company that I have used for years already (Illy).

But even this isn't 100% safe (Thai Airways)

In theory, yes.

In reality,  I have seen a package sender "Micky Mous", Adress of sender

"Changwat Pattaya" without street address,  ZIP 1234567, package actually came from Bangkok. (I changed the details)

Very stupid, indeed.

One of those very stupid people is a retired German law professor,  criminologist, former minister of justice. You can watch his account on YouTube.

Fortunately,  this would never happen to you, as you are much smarter than this very stupid guy.

Yeah, then he is stupid, or depending on age at the time, senile. No, it will never happen to me, 100%. So, apparently, yes I must be smarter. In that area, while he might be more smart in his areas of expertise. However, that does not necessarily make him smart in daily life.

Artikel in the BP today explained that now the buyer has a right to open the package.

After further reading it becomes clear that you have the right to open the package after you paid the money. Very funny.

You do not have the right to open the package before you pay.

So nothing changed.

If it is the way Gottfrid said (where does he know this from?) you now have a third party involved and if you want to get your money back you have to haggle with them. First line of defense will be "farang cannot".

What further reading? You are just making it up.

Consumers ‘can open parcels before paying’

Consumer protection board approves new system to help protect COD customers

is the headline. Furthermore, the delivery company must hold any payment made for five days.

So your cash is held by the system for five days in case you wish to file a dispute. Sensible, as then you don't have to inconvenience the courier.

Of course you have to take a video of the opening of the parcel. If the courier allows you to do it for a small tip, even better.

No haggling necessary, as it will work in the same way as if you paid by other means.

I read and understood. You didn't and made up a fair bit of nonsense.

The money is not paid over to the vendor until you have had the opportunity to evaluate the product. In some cases on the spot, in others, at home for up to five days.

If any issue, you can complain as normal. It will be exactly the same as if you paid by other methods. The difference being that the scammer hasn't already got your money and disappeared, only to open a new account. So it's a good thing for you. But yet you still tried to put a negative slant on it.

Thx for a useful post (as opposed to a certain guy).

So, if you live in a condo or apartment,  where packages are just dropped at the office/ reception/ front door without notification,  this Check Before Pay service (which is discretionary anyway) won't be of any use for you.

It's very useful if you are staying on the farm.
