BANGKOK, Thailand – The Transport Company Limited has announced measures to prioritize safety and facilitate travel during the upcoming Nawamindra Maharaj Day holiday, which will run from October 12 to 14. With a high volume of travelers expected to return to their hometowns over the three-day period, the company is preparing for an estimated 80,000 to 90,000 passengers per day. This will require around 6,000 to 7,000 bus trips daily, including services provided by the company itself, partner buses, and minivans. Under a directive from Deputy Transport Minister Surapong Piyachote, the company has instructed its divisions to deploy staff for inspections at key bus terminals. Safety checks will be conducted at the Bangkok Bus Terminal, also known as Mo Chit 2, and the Southern Bus Terminal on October 7, 10, and 11 to ensure that all vehicles are fully equipped for safe operation. Popular Post brianthainess Posted October 9, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2024 So the Company will do the inspections themselves, what could go wrong. 2 1

This is Not a mechanical Inspection only inspection of the busses in regard to safety equipment "vehicles are fully equipped for safe operation" in other words check tires fire fighting equipment . emergency exits ect and the Company should be doing this already, its just a show !! 2 1
MalcolmB Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Good initiative. That will trigger the usual whiners who use this forum to daily rant negatively about a country that they have chosen to live in and imagine scenarios that will unlikely happen. 2

black tabby12345 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 ..to ensure that all vehicles are fully equipped for safe operation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recent death of 23 caused by the bus flame-up during school excursion. Its main cause was the ill-fitted fuel system. But looks like no mandatory engine checkup is implemented for better safety. Perfect example of the Thai administrative practice: Saying, but Not Really Doing.
KhunBENQ Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Nawamindra Maharaj Day Had to think twice. Translates for the clueless foreigner as: King Bhumipol remembrance day. Died on October 13, 2016. No disrespect but here there is no indication for a big travel home event. Will the 13th be alcohol ban?

What Thai unions? (There are a handful.) Most Thai unions are effectively powerless.
