As some of you know I'm Canadian and have a Thai wife of almost 6 years we are living here in Thailand. I work offshore in the UK and would like to take my wife for a holiday in the UK after my 3 week shift. I found it very easy getting my wife a US visa in one day being that I'm Canadian. However I have not tried for a UK visa for my wife and from what I read on TV the UK embassy is a bit slower.

Has any non UK residents been through the process of getting their wife a UK visitor Visa? If so how long did approval take?

There is no apparent reason why your wife should not get a visit visa for the UK, and that she has already been issued with a US visa will help greatly. Also, that you are not British does not alter the consideration of your wife's application.

Your wife will have to demonstrate that the usual criteria are met; i.e. that she intends to leave to UK at the end of her stay, and that there is sufficient maintenance and accommodation for her whilst there.
