Need an alternative to the Thai post office.
My mail consistently gets lost, misplaced or sits for an eternity. Has been going on for the past 8 years, and I really need to find an alternate. I am familiar with services in the US that will give you an address you can have mail sent to them, which they then scan, notify you and send it on to you if desired. Is there any service like this in Thailand? Thank you. -

EMS postage
What are your experiences of using Thai Post Office EMS courier service? I posted some important documents at the Hua Hin Beach Post Office to UK on 3rd October at a cost B1,190.00. I was told 3-5 days for delivery. The EMS Tracker on 4th showed "Departure from outward office of exchange'. Since then, the documents haven't arrived and nothing more on the tracker. When I called the call centre today, 12 days after posting, I was told if the document doesn't arrive within 6 months then claim in their prescribed format. Has anybody had this experience with EMS? -

Anyone tried to call C'link International recently?
Dial the number, give the phone to the Thai missus, tell her to give you the phone when someone answers, meanwhile, "do other stuff." Just a suggestion. -

Help needed to understand some points of a farang buying a house in Thailand.
Although my Thai spouse and I have lived in a number of condos, we are now living in a large house with a pool on the Darkside of Pattaya. We enjoyed our seaview condos but now that we are older--I am 72--we wanted more space to host a large family of relatives who visit us. We now have all the space we need to do that. We also have space should we need live-in help at some point. Rather than going the Company route with the house, it is in my spouse's name on freehold, not leased, land. I said in a previous post that I didn't like leasing. As with you, I do like the idea that my spouse is set up and relatives will eventually inherit the house and land. -

Nonthaburi: Man Caught on CCTV Stealing Sandals for Sexual Gratification
Always amazed how stupid some fishy people are, in perpetrating their acts or theft, despite the presence of CCTV all over. No limit to stupid sometimes. Before wearing, we always look in the shoes left outside for little pests or snakes. Now we have to examine the shoes for any fishy white slimy streaks 🤮 -

Dutch Tourist Hurls Objects at Udon Thani Café Staff Over Change Dispute
The real jerk in this story is the so called "friend" who hid the change and put the Dutch into hot soup. Not that I defend such bully type westerners. But on the other hand, foreigners are just fed up in getting cheated all over Thailand and plainly being seen as cash cows. The cheating against foreigners is a bad image for Thailand and for tourism. But no excuse for these mouthy drunks and on the next incident he should be put back in a nice dutch plane and banned 5 years for disturbing the peace. -

What happen to the insurance when selling the car
So.. You buy a second hand car that has 6 months remaining insurance; an 'any driver' policy. For that remaining 6 months the insurance policy is in someone else's name (previous owner), not the current registered owner of the car (now you).... ..... you don't bother informing the insurance company so they can put your name on the insurance policy ? I can see how that works with an 'any driver' policy - but whenever I've sold a car (6 or 7 times now)... we always inform the insurance company of the change of ownership of the vehicle (I'm not sure if thats a legal requirement though). -

Vietnam retirement
Just booked DMK to CXR (Nha Trang) for Christmas 😉 Last Christmas I was in Dalat. Very beautiful decorations, music etc but too cold and crowded for me. It has become too popular and roads are for horse buggy. Pre Covid was good. -
