Police charged Thai singer Sirisak “Tik” Nantasane, also known as Tik Shiro, with drink driving after he crashed his van into a motorcycle, resulting in one fatality on October 10.

The victim, 28 year old Thai woman Thianporn “Meji” Siwapornpithak, lost her life, while her brother, Jakkaphat “Junior” Siwapornpithak, was seriously injured after the well-known singer Tik collided with their motorcycle on the Sukhapiban 5 Bridge at around 4am on October 10.

Meji, Junior, and another sibling, 24 year old Jinnipha Siwapornpithak, were travelling together on the motorcycle and stopped on the bridge to pick up a water bottle. Jinnipha went to retrieve the bottle while Meji and Junior remained on the motorcycle, which meant that Jinnipha escaped the accident unharmed.

Tik was seen apologising to the siblings’ parents following the incident. He was also admitted to hospital for a chest injury.

Many people defended Tik, arguing that the siblings should not stop on the dark bridge just to retrieve a water bottle. Others, however, pointed out that Tik may have been driving at an excessive speed, causing him to miss the motorcycle.

Police did not perform a breathalyser test at the scene, which led to public criticism. However, the police assured that the hospital conducted a blood alcohol test.

Today, on October 15, police released the results of the alcohol test, confirming that Tik had an alcohol level in his system exceeding the legal limit. Tik was temporarily released without bail, as he was not deemed a flight risk. In conclusion, Tik faces two charges including:

  • Section 291 of the Criminal Code: committing a reckless act leading to the death of another person. The penalty is imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine of up to 200,000 baht.
  • Section 43(2) of the Land Transport Act: driving under the influence of alcohol. The penalty is up to one year’s imprisonment, a fine of 10,000 to 20,000 baht, or both.

Tik and his wife also visited the Phra Si Mahathat Wora Maha Viharn Temple yesterday, October 14, to attend Meji’s cremation.

Kannayao Police Station informed ThaiRath that they will summon both parties to the police station again to reach a compensation agreement.

The rich and famous in Thailand, with money and connections, are free to break to law or kill people on the road and escape with no pursuit from the law. Happened before, happened again, will still happen obviously.

Should it not be  section 43(2) drink driving     Then

Section 291   Causing death  because of section 43(2) instead of the other way round in the report above

Fact is, that he was drunk - book him accordingly.
Fact is, that the bike was parked perfectly so such an accident MUST have happened. All those having lived here for a while have their little stories about absolutely careless bike drivers and bike owners and more than once I was just very lucky having avoided a collision due to the fault of the other party.

If that singer would just have been the average Joe around the corner, nobody would even talk about it. As said, book him for drunk driving but forget about the rest, me thinks!

Did I post he has not been charged? I just agreed with the news that he should be charged. After that, I predicted how it will turn out.

Clear now? Have any problem with that?

Agree as you said he has money so he will go ALMOST  scot free.

I agree, but I would have probably punched him as well, I find it a very strange Thai thing to turn up at a funeral of someone you have killed weird Thainess.

Quite - if they (the family) were to physically respond to his presence at the funeral that could seriously impact compensation pay outs….….

They all know to play the game…..

the motorcycle he hit was stopping to pick up a dropped water bottle in the right lane, on the middle of a bridge,

even a sober person driving might not be able to brake or swerve to not hit

turning up to funeral and showing remorse, offering compensation to the victim's family is accepted to reduce or commute the sentence

the first pictures when the news broke was that he was prostating and crying towards the victim, the remorse seems genuine unlike many rich pricks who'd run away or just wait for insurance/police to turn up

The photos show damage to the left of the van, and Tik Shiro 'prostrating' in grief on the left shoulder.

This indicates the motorcycle was stopped on the left shoulder of the road (bridge).

Other reports also highlight that the motorcycle was sticking out by 20cm into the left most driving lane.

It shows an attempt to show remorse...  however that may be interpreted to reduce a sentence or show genuine remorse...

Yup... I agree with that - its a terrible state of affairs when someone who's recently killed someone in an accident is given credit for remaining at the scene...  especially when 4x over the legal driving limit.

Pics below - show van hit on the left and Tik on the left side of the shoulder / road (photo below is from the video).

Oh, I didn't follow much of this news apart from the initial story, after reading up seems the van's dashcam shows the bike was parked in the left lane

from the pictures the road looks well lit too

there has been cases in the past where Thai celebrity killed someone in an accident and is redeemed by putting the deceased's kids through college and payouts
