Pool Bars ???    are they bars selling alcohol in swimming pool environment ?

I think maybe Hard Rock hotel  if you are a very rich rock star ?

One of the View Tallays  maybe  no 2  ( I almost died there due to wife jumping on my head in the deep end )

or for the "cheap charlies" the swimming pool at "Nong Jub Dow"

50 baht for as long as you want  loads of beer and food at extra cost of course.

I would not put my little toe in a pool with a pool bar.

Perfect place for day drinker. They can drink all day and do not have to get up to pee. Nobody will notice as long as they not shart...... 💩

VT2 and VT1 have a restaurant of sorts away from the pool but by the pool, if that makes sense, but definitely nothing of the swim up variety.

Nova Platinum (ex bowling alley in South Pattaya) theoretically has one but it was never being used when I looked.

I thought maybe the Dusit or Royal Cliff might ?

Not a good idea....pools and bars.....people are stupid enough around swimming pools without throwing alcohol into the mix.

Are you about 17 ?

We're not talking about a group of wet behind the ears nerds going large on their first trip away to Magalluf but rather a 4/5* hotel with a pool bar for sensible adults.

Though I admit many here and in Pattaya are effective retards.

These venues pay their staff nothing. They have far lower functionning costs compared to the west. Yet they charge same prices and sometimes more then their counterparts in western countries. Out of the question to feed the racket with me money. It's not being cheap-charlie as the snobs would say. It's about not being stupid.

Whenever we go to a hotel / beach resort etc... we take a cool-bag...

It can fit, wine, water, a few beers, gin, tonics etc...  a couple of plastic-glass looking beakers...

Then I have what I want... either sat around the pool, or on the beach etc...

Just this week....  we were away, on Thursday afternoon I was told it was a Buddha day and I couldn't buy beer at the pool bar (or in restaurants)....

... No issues...   I had my cooler bag....  and could chill with a cold one while in and out of the pool messing around with the Wife and Son....

I think - IF someone specifically wants a decent 'pool bar' their best option is to short list their hotels, then call up and ask to speak with a  duty manager - get his confirmation that the pool bars are open.

They presumably have customers who do pay their prices and that in  itself justifies them. As you do, people can shop around.

If you are referring to the 4 and 5 star hotels you could not be more wrong. In general the prices here are lower than the west. I guess you have not been back recently. The staff are very happy and very secure working in these hotels. Many have been there so long their kids are now working at the same establishment.

Didn't survey all the pool bars, (Phuket) but frequent yearly visitor to one, and same gent was there for years.  Must be getting some kind of incentive to remain on the job.  Great mixologist, proper Long Island Iced Tea,  even during happy hour.

Pool bars, aren't they widely known for where everyone sits there all day in the pool drinking alcohol while pissing in the pools rather than leaving the pool to go to the toilet?
