How is Halloween celebrated in Thailand?

Yet another event made into a huge business in the USA and now the world follows suit. As you say it is another way for business to dupe people into spending a ton of money quite unnecessarily. I note that you list "Mother's Day", "Father's Day" and "Valentine's Day" but you have missed out the greatest con of all and that one is "Christmas Day"!!

Well to be honest, In my opinion Christmas day is a bit different in that it relates to a traditional festival that has been celebrated for thousands of years.Although the real reasons for celebrating it have long been rendered superfluous or simply forgotten.   The others are totally man made constructs and if I am not mistaken were "invented" by the greetings card companies for purely commercial reasons.

Terminal 21 in Pattaya is offering a Halloween-themed street-food festival.  Even though Halloween is a multi-billion retail event in the U.S., I have never heard of a U.S. mall going to such lengths.  And this is something that is clearly aimed at Thai consumers, not farang tourists.

Hua Hin has plenty of locals taking the kids Trick or Treating

and the moms do a great job of dressing up ..

hmmm… i think Halloween is a parculiarly American practice, probably less appropriate for other countries who already have their own peculiar celebrations and don’t feel any need to

be “americanised?”
