Ha! Thanks, I do enjoy a good laugh. 41 years teaching middle school, high school and the last 27 years before retiring, American and European History. Those were the undergraduate history courses that come into requirements for anyone seeking a well rounded higher education. PBS Newshour recently had a segment on the need for liberal arts coursework for those seeking any subject of subject matter concentration. I was attempting to educate first, American citizens, only secondly trying to impart how the lessons of history applied to the present in whatever field of endeavor they were pursuing. Ah, yes … the point … I taught such things in history as communism, I studied and imparted my learning from seven countries … including China. Say what? You think that makes me questionable as an American, rather than an educated person? Ignorance is not a friend to any citizen in a participatory democracy. As currently being demonstrated.

IIRC voting rights were. only for men and landowning men at that - guys with skin in the game.

Maybe it's time to go back to that system.

Many of the people on here having an equal vote to a person who actually lives in & *contributes* (present tense) to their country is a crazy system imho.

Helps explains the mess though.

PS. I'm a Brit - do you think, if I hoped the southern US border I'd be given free board and a full debit card?

Are white skinned illegals also encouraged /. allowed or is it just for browns ?

Asking for a friend ; )

I just returned from one month in the US. Though I have some great friends back there, who are leading fulfilling lives, most people are utterly humorless, and seem to be live to work, eat, and sleep. The cost of living has skyrocketed to the point where only those who own their homes, that are paid for, or those earning over $400,000 per year, seem to be in decent shape. It feels like a relatively joyless place, these days.

So thrilled to be living here. The quality of life is higher on so many levels. At least for me.

So the HUGE amount of people in your long one month visit who were making $200,000 a year ( half your whopper of a lie $ amount) were struggling to get by? Then you also say if your home is paid off. Ok no problem. No need to make your 400k made up foolish amount! I mean really. Do you think even one poster here believes you know how much of your " friends" that you met with on your massive 30 day visit make over 400k a year? Do you think anyone reading your post thinks you know exactly which friends have a mortgage or not and how much is left of it? Really the anecdotal evidence on your post is so underwhelming that I almost expect you to come back here and say " well it's true , I have only 2 friends , one who makes 450k and the other one works at the massage shop and makes 35k a year and has a mortgage. " Oi.

DEI is Marxist!

Its all you here from the extreme left!

the conquest of the oppressed vs the oppressor!

The Cultural Marxist want to rewrite humanity by eliminating Traditional values of merit based achievements and replace it with vibe identity based ideals.

I'm willing to bet that you have no idea what you're talking about.  If you can please put it into language that people can understand

DEI replaces meritocracy and divides everyone into oppressors and the oppressed. Whites, heterosexual men in particular, but white heterosexual women to a lesser degree are the oppressors, and everyone else are the oppressed. It is Marxism but using race rather than class as to divide the citizenry, and it started under President Obama.

The problem with Marxism getting a solid hold in the US, was because people that work, save, abide the law, and stay diligent do not stay in the same class. Not the same with race. With race, we can have Oprah, a black, female billionaire be the oppressed, and Joe Bagadoughnuts, a white forklift driver in Ohio is the oppressor, forever.

It truly is brilliant,

Same tribe pushing it in the US were at the forefront of the Russian Revolution too.

Another poster on here is a self proclaimed marxist but also cries at every opportunity at how his (presumably oppressed) wife rose up and dumped him + relieved him of his £600K house 😂

Also he's such a 'man of the proletariat that he brags about fiddling his state pension.

TBH I think this 'I'm a marxist' (impossible above LARPing in a capitalist society)  nonsense is just virtue signalling or a life (of jealousy for producers and providers ) spent sucking on the state's teat & hating on life's 'winners'.

These 'marxist' are nuts - delusional at best.

Least they could do is keep sponging off the state and keep their BS to themselves - obvs that's too much to ask for though!

You didn't answer the question so that's telling in itself and makes me wonder which dump you're from (admittedly there are many in the US but far more in LOS imho)

If the locals "lead lives full of fulfilment" large swathes of them wouldn't have to rent their bodies and/or themselves to foreigners to get by.

Exhibit B:  https://www.numbeo.com/quality-of-life/country_result.jsp?country=Thailand

"Thailand Quality of Life Index:104.77  Low"

What celebrities do may mean nothing to you but where the rich choose to spend their time is an indicator of the best places in the world to be (ie NOT Thailand).

I'm NOT a yank but too many on here (many delusionally smug boomers admittedly) unfairly denigrate their home countries imho which are the real paradises compared to LOS - though their pockets can';t stretch to enjoying the good life (or good or bad wimmin) there.

Bit of honesty sometimes surely wouldn't hurt would it?

“There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.”

Delusion is NOT a river in Egypt.

Oh well. At least I tried.

I could list 20 reasons why my life here is something I am grateful for every day of my life. But, it wouldn't even register for you. You obviously need to justify why the US is so great. If I was making millions a year, I would live there too. At least long enough to retire, and then leave. I was just there. Not like I am making this stuff up. The day I leave is always the best day of my trip to the US!

First hand always beats the junk you read.

I'm not surprised at all and I think the US is/was a great country with some great people.

Most people think the country they live in is great and has some great people. Doesn't mean it's true.

I guess sometimes it's great to be stupid. Stupid people don't know how stupid they are. And they "think" everybody else is stupid.

Problem is that stupid people expect other people to give them money to live on, have children they don't bring up properly, have a chip on their shoulder, and believe in stupid things like driving an ICE car is melting the icecaps, or being an illegal immigrant is OK as they work for peanuts.

The thing about Trump is that he has the rhetorical style of a pathological liar on the junior high playground.

"A big strong man came up to me and said..."

"People tell me..."

"My friends who are college professors say..."

"They're eating the pets, I saw it on TV..."

"My wealth friend couldn't get in to a restaurant..."

"I showed Abdul a picture of his house..."

Followed by a ridiculous lie that would get him laughed off the junior high playground.

Just like with those lying young people the constant lying reveals that something is wrong: profound immaturity or a deeper problem with his mind.

I'm not a psychologist, I don't know exactly what his problem is, but I can clearly see that he is mentally disturbed.

Should not be president again.

Really? Calling your opponent a fascist, and an existential threat to the country, and literally Hitler?   Geez, what is worse than that? And this about a guy who has already had 2 assassination attempts made on him. So much for "toning down the political rhetoric".

I guess she is just that desperate  to win.

If he was a Hitler why didnt Kelly quit his post in opposition !

If he was a fascist why did he wait to tell the world , what the world has been so use to hearing, a fairy Tale. Designed to make people not vote for him!

More election interference from the cry wolf party that interviewed him.

"election interference"

Its called burn it all down! These are the BLM, antifa, pro Hamas crowd  sympathizers we see in and around college campuses all around the world , predominately in the USA , it seems they have the right to burn the flag and in some states like Minnesota, Tim Walz state ,they  were allowed to riot and burn city streets  , police precincts , commt 500 million in damages just in Minneapolis.
