I would vote for Bernie before I would vote for Harris, but too far left for me.

It seems to me he is a decent guy. That makes him already a very good choice compared to anybody else.

Bernie is avowed socialist. They're immoral, oppressive and totalitarian. Nothing decent about that.

He is indeed terrible, but at least he does not word salad

But most people are so brainwashed by fake politicians that they are unable to perceived Bernie's value, as evidenced by the previous poster's comment.

Democrat voters loved Bernie and supported him throughout the Democrat primaries in 2016. The party decided that they didn't want Bernie, so they bought him off and inserted Hillary. I even know some moderate Republicans who liked what Bernie had to say.

All of this was when Democrats were still trying to hide their socialist/Marxist/communist agenda.

In a hypothetical 2016 you would vote for Bernie, over Trump?

No. Bernie is a socialist, and not very bright.

I think Trump is the better choice or Harris and Bernie.

I understand you wanting open borders see it differently.

Exactly, your comment is pointless. Another anti-Harris zinger. You will always vote for the GOP candidate, regardless. Even if there were some policy points of Bernie you could agree with, in our binary choice system I can understand that.

And your lack of a point is clear, another anti-Trump rant,

No, I would not, and have not always voted for the GOP candidate, but you will always vote for the furthest left open border socialist on the ticket, yes?

What is a policy point of Bernie's I might agree with? He's an open border, anti-business, anti-Israel, pro-welfare state leftist.

Those are all things you like, and reasons you support him, except maybe Israel. I don't know your position on Israel, but I would guess you side with Bernie.

I am not against Harris, and I do not think she's stupid, I do not like her open border, pro DEI, anti-meritocracy, divisive polices. You do, I get it.

The U.S. can elect a fascist but not a socialist. That's just the way it is. Bernie could have had a shot if he hadn't labelled himself that way. He is indeed a decent man.

Reminds me of a review I recently read of a new movie. The review was favorable but mentioned that it's title makes it almost unmarketable -- My Old Ass. (What were they thinking?)

It's interesting reading all the comments here.

Bernie, according to Bernie, has lots of politics which many ordinary Americans support with majority.

Health care for all (a lot cheaper than now), higher minimum wages, etc.

And he, and his supporters, don't want to support a system where the 3 richest American people (3 people, not 3%) own more than the poorest half of American people.

Are these ideas really too socialist for you all? Do you prefer a bad and expensive health system where the pharma companies and insurance companies make all the money? Do you prefer low minimum wages where people have problem to survive? And do you think Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates should own more than about 170,000,000 people together?

people have been brainwashed that "socialism" is a bad word.

it's not either/or anyway. socialism is mixed with capitalism.

Trump owns half of new york and most people can't afford to live there anymore and yet people idolize him.

Indeed, definitely Americans have.

Look Bernie is past presidential age by now.

He's done great service in the senate as a different voice caucusing with democrats, but that's the limit.

As far as his chance to be nominated by the democrats in the past. rather ballsy of him to try to do that while actually NOT being a democrat.

Fascism and socialism are the same.

It's bad enough that you don't know what you are writing about.

But why show everybody how ignorant you are?

Maybe just look it up in a private moment where you don't feel too embarrassed when you learn those words.

Do you mean he doesn't support democracy?

Or he doesn't agree with the rich sponsors of the DEMs?

Pretty much.

I never get into the weeds on the nuanced differences between fascism, socialism, Nazism, communism and Marxism.

But they are all immoral, all authoritarian, all oppressive, all totalitarian and all Left.

Less freedom and more government control toward far left totalitarian is Left.

More freedom and less government control toward far right anarchy is Right.

Left Right continuum 24.0930.jpg

Tyranny Fascism is Far Left?

Free speech is Far Right?

Mob Rule is Extreme Right?

Where did you get that from? TikTok?

And then your attitude to "nuanced differences". It's like writing a Ford Model T is the same as a Porsche 911. Yes, sure, they are both cars. But there are some differences...

With post like above I never know if people are actually that stupid and ignorant, or this is a joke or what?

Had the Dems not stabbed him in the back and imposed HRC he'd have been POTUS, IMO.

I only supported Trump in 2016 because I loath HRC.

They are both as bad as each other, IMO. Socialism with a capital S. I'm in favour of socialism small s, eg the NHS.

Not necessarily. Carter is a decent human being, that doesn't make for a good president. You have to be able to deal with scoundrels. Good guys tend to be too naive. I like Bernie his intentions are good but completely unworkable.

It seems you know that there are differences. That's the important part.

People have different opinions of what is good or bad, fine.

But if people have different opinions about the meaning of words, that makes no sense. There are definitions out there for a reason. And it's easy to look them up - if people want to learn and educate themselves.

Yeah. Language is very imperfect at conveying meaning eg "love" can have multiple meanings.

In the case of "socialism" it can be Socialism which is the  thing Stalin and Mao murdered millions for, or socialism which is the NHS saving lives.
