In a coordinated sting operation led by Pol. Col. Chalermchai Hoernsawat, Superintendent of Patong Police Station, and Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Narubodin Phangleesen, authorities arrested a Nigerian national on charges of drug trafficking. The arrest took place on October 25, around 17.30, outside a hotel on Sirirat Road in Patong.

The operation, directed by Pol. Lt. Col. Suchat Chumphusang of the Patong Police Investigation Unit, resulted in the seizure of 0.88 grams of cocaine. Officers also confiscated evidence including three Thai 1,000-baht banknotes and one 500-baht note, totaling 3,500 baht, used in the sting operation. Additional seized items included a blue Vivo mobile phone and a black-green Yamaha Fazio motorcycle.

The Nigerian suspect is being charged with “selling a category 2 narcotic (cocaine).” Following the arrest, he was transferred to the Patong Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings. Authorities have not released additional details pending further inquiry.

This arrest highlights Phuket’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking within its popular tourist areas. Local law enforcement has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safety for residents and visitors alike.

Likely the jail conditions are better than his mud hut in Nigeria - result.

Don't worry, I will pay his bail, once my Nigerian Princess has sent me her gold, and I've paid for it to be cleared by customs.

Under zero tolerance, the police can confiscate 999 grams and resell them, while still sending the guy to jail for 1 gram. That's why some countries have zero tolerance in place.

If Thailand made Nigeria responsible for the upkeep of their citizens whilst in prison here, Nigeria would being going cap in hand the IMF every week for a bail out

Not likely @JackGats. Last 20 years there's no chance for this trick. They report on each other, no friends, no team work.
Maybe somewhere is still possible, but Phuket is very lucrative place, nobody wants to be transferred to sh*t hole like Naknon Schmakhon.

I knew one officer who was sent away from Bangkok be cause of report of his close friend, another officer.

They used their marked money and he took it for the cocaine so it's dealing.

Obviously the guy would only walk around with one bag thinking he could get away with it if caught selling it by saying it was for personal , but not if the police set you up he can't 🫤

Hardly enough blow for a decent night out. 🤷

Probably the residue fro his last intake.

With no mention of any overstay, this must be a first for a Nigerian drug dealer staying here  :shock1:

Sometimes when these things happen it turns out the stuff isn't the genuine article, and the case gets thrown out because there is no law against having powdered laxative.  Maybe the guardian angel was rigging things.

They might as well simply ban any Nigerians from coming to Thailand. The reality is, when they come here, whether they deal drugs (in plain sight by the way), pimp, or set scams of all kinds here and there.  or all three at the same. (ps : no, it's not racism. It is simply observational).

But true.

Fortunately they are easy to spot.
