Now I have made an appointment at the UK embassy.

So can get a copy of the passport.

The translation dude said once I have that he can take that, and copy of my birth certificate to MBK to the Ministry of Foreign  Affairs to get stamped.

Phew!!!

Then back to local office and try again !!!

Just for info the Embassy certified passport copy can be done by post. Saved me a trip from Buriram to BKK.

OK Thanks. It's not famous where I live. Our lass hasn't heard of it, neither has her sister or her Mam.

That was my experience at Bang Pa In Amphur.

They requested a certified copy of British passport at the Embassy which was then to be translated at MFA.

Also my birth certificate just translated at MFA.

Renewed my license in May for the first time they wouldn't accept my yellow book, told me if I used it my license would only be good in Rayong. Wasn't going to argue with them. So off too Immigration for the certificate, two and a half hours of driving

I (also) had no problem using the yellow house book as proof of address and my DL has my Thai ID-number. However, as so often, there might be differences in procedure in other provinces.

I need to book an appointment with the UK embassy to get certified copies of my birth certificate and passport.

She gave us a contact for translating said documents into Thai.

I'd double-check, but usually the certified copies and translations need legalising by the Consular section of the MFA before being accepted by the Amphoe.

I thought the Pink ID card was not valid outside the issuing area.....

Someone who speaks / reads Thai could possibly best answer what it states on the back of the card,... but from what I can understand , the card IS valid outside the issuing area if one has additional identification to accompany the card (where I suspect a valid Visa in one's passport would suffice in that case - or possibly just an image of one's passport and visa on one's smartphone).

I've never put that to the test. When going out of province, I take my passport.

I find the Pink-ID most helpful in different areas.

I remember in that K Bank in Hua Hin market village where one of the female staff customer "service" assistants,  was refusing any other ID rather then my passport. I was not even making a withdrawl but making a chunky deposit on an account that was opened in another city.

All this to say that in Thailand, depending on the person behind the counter, rules change, are made up and nothing is consistent. The passport rules and all the other local ID's (DL, Pink Card etc) seem of little use depending on where and with whom you deal.

This has been a long running debate with the 'terms' inaccurately quoted by those who for some reason are against the Pink ID.

The comment is often made that 'if someone carries a pink ID they cannot leave the area of issue'....  which is incorrect, as the additional wording states: "except for those with holding alien identification card or those who have received written permission".

In this context an 'alien identification card' is your Passport - there is no limation on travel.

There is no apparent limitation on the validity of the Pink Card outside of the area of issue if you also carry 'alein ID'.

A lot of such issues depend on whether your bank account is was opened using your Yellow House Book and Pink ID as ID, or if your account is linked to the number on your pink ID.

IF you opened your bank account with your passport, you cannot use your Pink ID when accessing that account (oddly, 'sometimes' even when making a deposit - but that varies from teller to teller).

I have 3 Thai Bank accounts with different Banks.

2 of them opened with a Pink ID - I never have an issue using that Pink ID to carry out transactoins.

However, the other account was opened only with my Passport (25 years ago) - thus only my passport is accepted when carrying out a transaction at this bank.

They were incorrect due to 'the terminology' on the back of the licence when it has been acquired using the Pink ID.

The staff at the DLT have lazily taken on their interpretation of that terminoloty which when translated states:

Restrictions / Restrictions in case of driving outside of the area, use it together with the permit to leave the area.

This is due the Pink ID also having limitations on travel for those without an 'alien ID card' [ a Passport ].

In this case the 'permit to leave the area' is your passport - thus, there is no area restriction on your Thai Driving licence if acquired using the Pink ID, when accompanied with your Passport the Thai Driving Licence is a 'natoinwide licence'...

Yes, if you want to continue your Thai-SS-Health after your job ends - full coverage for 420 Baht/mo flat-rate.  Other reasons also, but for that one, is mission-critical.

There is no requirement to hold yellow book or pink ID card to continue paying SS.

Not nationally, anyway. Maybe at some offices.

Yellow book, never had to get a residence letter, when covid, all my jabs were free, oh and driver's licence..

Pink ID card, don't think I've ever used it, but at 20 or 40 bht, I added it to my arsenal, ya never know...

Yellow book was I think 20 bht at the time...🤗

Now, anyone who says a yellow book is useless, is a fool....☺️

Maybe not useless but I've never needed one in 25 years.

They are telling people in Sriracha that you need this to continue your coverage I've got two friends that went through it. I don't disagree with you it's just different offices play by different playbooks. I had problems in Sriracha also and had to go up to Rayong where they couldn't have been friendlier. So much easier if all the organizations played by the same Playbook and each office couldn't adjust the rules to fit themselves.
