Why should the insurance company pay, when the fool was riding without a helmet? If he'd been complying with the law, then they'd have no reason for refusal.

I wonder just how many WOKE tourists think that Thailand will cover  them

if they need medical insurance for injuring themselves.

  I guess there are idiots all over the world.  i do not like the extra expense of

medical insurance, but hospitals in Thailand are pretty expensive, if you have to stay

in them for any length of time. Get your insurance! Have a good worry free holiday vacation.

Nothing to do with woke.  It’s mainly the not used to traveling that don’t take out insurance. Very naive of course . Lots of younger people in good health also don’t think of the danger. Personally I think that Travel Insurance should be obligatory for all tourists. Then the problem would be solved, except for the fools that break the rules on motorbikes etc,  then insurance doesn’t cover them.

The rest of that paragraph suggests that he was insured but the insurance company denies responsibility for payment of the cost of treatment because the insurance policy excludes  incidents involving "negligence, intent, illegal acts or risky behaviour," exacerbated by his lack of a crash helmet. 

 

Another paragraph in the news article suggests that Cobbs believed he was inured but in fact was not.

In the case of Johnathon Cobb mentioned in the news article, it appears that no insurance company is involved.
