If an agent is advertising a condo for sale and for rent at the same time, are there any issues with leasing this condo as a tenant? Say you enter into a 1 year lease, then later on the owner sells it, are you legally protected that the new owner has to continue leasing to you for the full term of the lease, and that the old owner won't run off with your deposit and you will get your deposit back at the end of the lease term?

I don't think there are any real guarantees.

Having said that, it seems to be normal that many people advertise for sale or rent at the same time. In other words, "I need money".

Some also have unrealistic expectations about a possible sales price. Or maybe they play the game: If someone is so stupid to buy it for this elevated price, then I am happy to sell.

All in all, I think, don't worry.
