Phuket’s courtroom prescription: Legal drama escalates in Swiss assault dismissal

What a joke. Thais literally stab each other on a daily basis and get off with 500 baht and a wai (ok not exactly but very little enforcement done), yet when a "rich" foreigner butthurts a "doctor" she goes to the supreme court? The guy already paid more than enough surely. There is no need for this vindictiveness or waste of public resources for something that amounts to hurt feelings at best. She was not injured. Move the **** on.

Did he really kick her or was it a nudge to move her on? Why did she return after apologising on the first encounter, also the court initially found in his favour! If he did in fact actually kick her then he should pay the price of assault but somehow I believe there is more to this story! It does seem that he is an angry man if the reporting is factual but again we know how inaccurate & misleading reporting in Thailand can be. We also know the brown envelope scenario!!!

We have a case that happened over the week end in the UK. By one of our great, honest, decent members of parliament. Apparently he felt threatened so viciously beat a member of the public. Funny how the aggressor always blames the victim. https://www.independent.co.uk/tv/news/labour-mp-mike-amesbury-punch-video-cheshire-b2636907.html

Probably a fake Russian video.

There's a lot of negative comments regarding the Swiss guy... first, I do not know him, so, all I can say is... we weren't there, and the Thai system has dismissed the charges, so accept the courts decision, irrespective of your personal, non informed opinion, why are the dogs so quick to bite the foreigners, on this forum... if you can prove he is guilty then you should have informed the police.

I remember back when it happened and I effectively stated they were making a mountain out of a molehill, some posters were getting very angry at me. I then got accused of knowing him or even being him just because I wasn't blinded by rage like them. Its pathetic really.

The video was published everywhere. The Swiss guy abused the lady and kicked her in the back from behind at night in a dimly lit area. I think in most right people's minds, that's assault. A man kicking a woman from behind, in the back....she didn't even see it coming makes it even worse. To me, that's pretty much unconscionable. In my eyes he's a very nasty man and I really hope the doctor's appeal is successful.

This guy is a lowlife street thug, and should be treated as such. Utter vermin.

I have always suspected the Swiss Man presence in Thailand as sinister, running what I would call a faux elephant sanctuary. Filled by supposed leased elephants "pigging" back on a real independent legitimate sanctuary of the same address.

To what end? Does he get the status of an NGO that shields him from immigration and Thai corporate laws? That might shield any wealth or funneling riches from government corruption oversight, ie., bribes.

If he were brought to trial a subpoena and deposition might reveal more about his wealth than he'd care to show, ie., at any cost?
