I seem to be one of the few with nothing against western women. Women from anywhere can be problematic.

How can anyone thats experienced a country not corrupted by feminism make this statement

I can only assume you aren't qualified to teach in the UK.

When I was back in the UK 2009, working 'supply', I was paid 130GBP (+NI) for every day I worked in high school.

And I could have worked every weekday if I had wanted.

It's not just qualifications that you need in the UK - you have to be young!  They simply won't consider oldies.  Well, actually it's the same in Thailand....

As for me, a few months till I hit 66 years old and my UK state pension.  Next week, I start a new teaching job back in Myanmar again (a country I both love and am drawn to time and time again).

I worked here for an American Fortune 500 company twenty years ago. My job brought me elsewhere again and again, but I knew a time would come for me to come back here and settle down.

It's far from perfect but there are too many things to love about Thailand, starting from the food and its people.

Agreed💯

Just a nonsense from weak men who couldn't handle their women.

Adapt or die.

Life is easier here and nobody bothers you, it's live and let live. In the West they must have a rules and regulations machine that is running 24/7. Yes we have the yearly visa and the 90 day rule but that is nothing compared to the finger wagging West, comply and fit in. Here they have rules but mostly people don't bother with them, as one Thai civil servant said to me, tongue in cheek, "We have our regulations but they are like a flowing river, if you don't want to get wet stay away from them".

Been working as an English teacher since 2005.  Couldn't get the same level of remuneration back home (UK), so here for good now.  Plus I now have a family here (although not Thai).

You must be a real teacher.  Are your kids being robbed of opportunities in life due to the Thai education system?  It's like overcoming a learning disorder or speech impediment.

I came to Pattaya to take the waters.  Maybe one day I'll find them.

The perks far outweigh the problems… That’s my opinion and, for better or worse, I’m curious to know why other folks have become expats in Thailand.

All-year-summer and barefoot-Xmas was first priority for me about 20 years ago. I haven't regret it for a moment...

Secondarily was a young enough partner to give me an heir, which also happened, now I was here; havn't regret that either...😉

Most are here for the pussy boumboum and the booze that is cheaper then back home. Until when they catch some awful STD and then it's another story. But also many decent one's who are happily married and are happily funding, sponsoring the entire lady's thai family. Others with a girl friend, who they are paying monthly rent and thinking that he is the only one ?

Then comes the worst, those expat types, rude, arrogant foreigners thinking that they own Thailand and that their western dynamics would work here,. They are the worst, the biggest show offs, loud, mouthy and they look down on other foreigners living here.

Of course no generalization as you have good decent people everywhere and from anywhere, Except it's hard to bump into them in the heart of Nana Plaza or a seedy bar in Jomtien or in a brothel of Patpong.

I haven't taught Thai kids for years, and have no knowledge or experience of the Thai educational system (except for my own son who goes to a Thai-bilingual school).

It's irrelevant what you think of Western women. What counts is what Western women will think of me, at age 65. I spent 20 years with a woman 30 years my junior, and her replacement is 40 years my junior. That's not happening back at home.

Nothing - we worked in a business together for 20 years. We bought real estate and made money. How about you? Are you paying your old lady to stay with you?

The doctors love all of us here or back home due to the regular and frequent STD checks that bring them good money.

I've only had one STD check in Thailand, in 20 years... recently my new girlfriend insisted on it.

There's no need to see a doctor. Clinics have an assortment of packages if you feel you're at risk. Mine cost 700 baht, so no one became rich from it.
