They picked Harris for reasons I will not post on here, but she is worse than HRC, and that's saying something. They could probably have won with Newsome over Trump, but put someone so bad into it, that not enough were able to hold their noses and vote for her. Quite probably true. In an ideal world for the Democrats, Biden would have announced he was not running for re-election a year ago. That would have given them time for a real primary contest, which Harris again may have lost. Had they chosen a sane candidate like Josh Shapiro, it would have been a lot closer, if not a different result.

 

But they were prisoners of their own ideology and pride.  The idea was "anyone can beat Trump, except Biden". So they screwed up, picked a rather feckless candidate, and got smoked. Time to live and learn.

One lesson the Dems might want to take from this.

 

If your preferred candidate is an imbecile who has already proved to be incapable of winning votes, do not skip the Democratic process for electing the nominee in order to "select" her to run in an election against one of the most charismatic candidates of all time.

In other news, George W. Bush is a rare voice of sanity. His statement on the election was gracious and well written;

I have no candidate, I'm not American nor do I live in America. Whether Harris would have been good or bad we shall never know. We do have some inkling of Trumps character which doesn't put him in a good light but the fact that he has no class and is dishonest played no role in why he, or rather his party, was elected, it was a pragmatic economic choice with the vain hope that he could wave a magic wand and make a 35 trillion dollar debt disappear. No matter which party governs for the next 4 years it will be a disaster, a trillion dollars a year in interest payments alone, rising interest rates, unemployment and homelessness issues are harbingers of discontent which will be unfairly laid before the door of the government. These are world wide problems which need solutions from all parties and governments but that wont happen, the house of cards must first collapse before there is a new beginning but waves rise and fall, just a historical footnote from which nobody will learn.

The dems absolutely need to take some responsibility for this. Some think it was about misogyny. Wrong. Exit surveys show Harris was equated with Biden and both were deeply disliked. I did not like her, so I can only imagine how conservatives felt. Everyone I spoke to in the past few weeks said how unlikable she was. We must learn from this.

 

The Dems need to dismantle the party, and rebuild it from scratch. Every official should be fired.

First lesson I would learn if I was a Democrat - When asked about your economic policy it might be a good idea to actually answer the question, rather than stating you are from a middle class family or that Trump is a Nazi.  

 

Second lesson - If your preferred candidate cannot win the democratic nominee process, maybe find another candidate rather than avoiding the process altogether and putting them straight into a Presidential race. It's like having a boxing prospect who can't win at local area level, so you decide to skip those fights and put him straight in against Artur Beterbiev or Oleksander Usyk for the undisputed world title. He's gonna get beat badly, like Harris did.

The dems need to separate themselves from the press and media, stand with republicans to close the border, abandon trans, DEI and identity politics and quit dividing everyone. 

 

Trump campaigned with exactly the same message to black, white, yellow and brown voters. 

 

Now the press is blaming black and brown men and  white women for not voting to put men in their daughters’ showers. 

 

These people are insane.

I think had she just had a few more months it would have been worse.

Biden was not going to resign at any point.

 

But if he withdrew his nomination JAN1, there would've been time for a mini primary. At JUL 23, none of those who would be considered as viable candidates in addition to Harris were interested in that short order.
