So based on previous policies starting with Bush ,the poor bastards are going to get poorer and the billionaires will get richer  It 's the American way !

Yes, let them try out for the next 4 years. I am very curious how much they will pay for the liter gallon the coming years, and in the supermarket. This was the only thing interesting to give their vote, but if you look these people on TV, what do you expect more ?

What worries me most is their shortsighted opinion draws rest of world into deeper troubles of apocalyptic proportions, like the counter measures of climate change, step out of treaties, 'drill, drill, drill'. This will eventually become a boomerang but then these leaders are gone. Ukraine isn't just about Ukraine, you can indeed end this war in one or two days, let the other take the land, it is far away, it is not our backyard, we don't care, the agressor can select its next victim.

Let them find out themselves, we talk again in 4 years.

You say that like it’s a bad thing… but more money and easier lifestyle is what the vast majority of rational human beings on the planet aspire to.

Are we supposed to instead aspire to misery?

What benefits the US benefits the world. When energy production is high in the US, everyone benefits.

Over 73 million voting Americans are GARBAGE, as President Joe Biden pointed out accurately fingering the MSGarden crowd. This American  garbage population voted for one of histories most flawed and horrible humans to breathe air.  Belonging in the realm of the world's worst fascist dictators.  Tragically not stopped in two attempts. This convicted criminal, aided and abetted in the US Supreme Court and Senators and House of Representative cowards failed to protect democracy in America.   The good and the true defenders of democracy and justice have not prevailed.  They understood that the pandemic crisis and damage was not the fault of the Biden administration or the Vice President running for the office of President.  The worst day election of Donald Trump was akin to the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the Twin Towers on 9/11. The difference being attacks from without the country versus an attack from within the country (the 73 million plus garbage Americans).

ROLMAO!

Another one.  A little late to the party.

No, not misery, but more comfort for all. "More money and an easier lifestyle" are selfish goals of capitalists. More comfort for all is the goal of socialists like me.

No, that's certainly not the case. When the US benefits, some other country loses. That's what capitalism is all about. When energy production is high, so is pollution and the growing threat of climate change.

We've all heard it all before.  It's not a rumor, though.  Just so you realize that. Maybe it matters to you.  Mathematically, the status quo must adapt.  Unless you think mathematics is a rumor that doesn't matter.

In terms of my personal finances, I'm currently operating on the theory that I don't care.  Like it or not, I'm 73 years old.  I'm all-in the market. Mainly tech stocks, at least in my USA accounts, but for about $23 in my checking account.  My checking accounts are free, so I can run them down to zero if I want. I might have a bit more in a few other accounts and enough money in my Thai bank to maintain my retirement extension of stay.  With any luck, I'll drop dead before the financial system collapses.  And currently, the results are fantastic.  In my primary brokerage account, I'm up 168% YTD.  Every day when I turn on my computer, I see more new money than I could ever spend here in Thailand.  A lot of that increase happened in just the last few months.  And if the market collapses? So what? I'll get dividends from my oil stocks.  At least that's the plan.

Does that make sense?

For you it does.  That’s what matters to you

Good luck

BTW,  should I withdraw my LTR Wealthy Pensioner application?

It was just approved today.  If everything is going down the drain soon, why bother.

Would you do the same?

I think you have it backwards.  Fascism is exactly what they don't want. Hence the rejection of the authoritarian Dems and the landslide election of Trump.  If you don't understand that, you should probably take a break from reading propaganda.  Read some real news.

Fascist use the system to deny your right to be on ballots! The real fascist  tried to deny Jill Stein, Kennedy , Trump from being on the ballot in states.

But the US economy has never been better. You can thank Biden for that. Trump the felon is inheriting this. Dont forget that in years to come.

Just as he inherited Obama's great economy in 2017.   And, people did  forget that 'in years to come'.  The big mistake the Dems made in the 2024 election was focusing too much on Trump and not enough on the good economy and their plans to make it even better.

Yes, it's selfish to want to keep the fruits of your labor when others are in need. But that's what capitalism is all about.

It would be selfless for the government to take all the fruits from those who have grown them and distribute them to everyone according to their needs. That's what socialism is all about.

That is just the ideology , the reality is that no one would want to plant or grow the trees and everyone wants as much fruits as they can get .

No wants to plant the trees, so you have to reward those people who put the work and effort in to growing them, give them something extra.

Like giving them some paper so they can get extra benefits for the effort they put in

Yes, that is exactly the ideology of capitalism. It's based on greed. So, if you want to reward and promote greed, you can certainly do so by promoting capitalism.

So you as a Socialist would like to work more and earn less ?

How many hours do you currently work per week and what percentage of tax do you pay on your salary ?

So, you must be in favour of the Thai Government also taxing your income ?

IMO, people who work hard should be rewarded for their effort , people who don't want to work or put any effort in shouldn't receive the same rewards as those who work hard .

No, in a socialist society, you would work but not earn anything.

I'm currently retired (I'm 78), but when I worked, I paid a large percentage of my income. I don't remember how much, probably 35% or more.

No, I'm not in favor of the Thai government taxing my income, which is mostly my Social Security payments. If Thailand had a socialist economy, I would be in favor of them collecting all my Social Security payments and any other income I earn, but then, of course, they would provide (as best they could) for my needs.

You would petition your needs, and the government would provide for them as best as possible.

To be honest, I've never even looked into the LTR visas.  I always just use the "O" extension of stay visa extension based on retirement.  That always works.  I've done it several times now, over the last 18 years. It doesn't get much simpler.  Put at least 800,000 baht in a Thai bank and leave it there.  When you show up in Thailand and want to extend your stay, it's just a matter of a little paperwork.  I enter on a 30 day stamp, I extend that at Immigration, and then I can apply for the extension of stay based on retirement.  At that point, I just need an application form and a letter from the bank along with an updated copy of my bank book.

Anyway, I don't have a crystal ball.  If your LTR visa has already been approved, why not?

Who would go to the Bahamas for a holiday and who would go to Baltimore for a holiday ?

Which one of the workers would go where or a holiday ?

The one who works the hardest ?

Well, that's a good example of a justifying capitalism - selfishness.

You would go on whatever holiday the government could fund for you, and that would be according to your needs, not how hard you work or how much you produce.

The majority of Americans  do not invest in the Stock market and will not share in the profits. They don't even benefit from the increased returns pension and retirement funds  receive since many are living paycheck to paycheck. What matters to them is the cost of rent, of housing or medical care, of food, of transportation  etc.

Interesting comment, it is true up front this is whatcAmericans think about.

It was noted once in a comment investing isnt taught in High School instead they make sure in my days write  a proper check. Why Im not exactly sure any longer.

If I can learn anyone can when I did I was at the front with my Union bringing in expert to explain to my fellow workers how easy it works.

You say where are workers going to find an extra 100USD, I heard it a million times but when you sit and review workers habits never fails you find it. Their are comments if a person cut back on one or two coffee from Starbucks a day take that savings put it in a mutual fund guess what.

Every negative you made  goes against every economist and investment expert. When it comes to a 401K, if your gross paycheck 1000, you take out 100USD for 401K, you are then tax on 900 not 1000, and if your company provides a match you get 100 USD. How you can state what you stated make me wonder not a criticism but how you got your wealth?

Check the graphs below.  Trump took over in 2017.   Note where 2017 falls on the graphs--they all maintain their unbroken trajectories started by the Obama administration.  As you can see, Trump inherited a good economy from Obama with employment rising, unemployment falling, and wages increasing.  All good for workers.

He rode the good economy until covid hit in early 2020.   In 2021, Biden inherited the economic mess Trump left him but has turned the economy around in the last couple of years--just in time for Trump to take over once again and hog all the credit if the economy continues to improve--or, blame Biden if he screws it up.

Unfortunately, the Dems in this election failed to drive this economic message home to the voters.  I was watching one news program before the election and a woman commented that she disliked Trump but was voting for him because she felt she was better off during his administration.  Whatever her economic perception for that period was, it was thanks to Obama, not Trump.
