I used to do this and have a tiny balance in my multi money account (£0.43!). However it is extremely likely that you can direct Wise to initiate the transfer from your Westpac account (you will still have to authorise the transfer) and transfer the money to your Thai account. So this simplifies the process 1 contact to Wise that sets up all the details (you only enter the amount once) 2 authorise the Westpac transfer (wise transfers you to Westpac for the banking steps) 3) you are transferred back to Wise where they tell you the status. by this time the cash maybe already in your Thai bank depending on the bank you use SCB is fast a couple of others are also fast BANGKOK BANK is slow This is the streamlined process available in the U.K. it reduces the possibility of mistakes, since I don’t use Australian banks I don’t know that the same process is available there but I suspect it is. I did a transfer this morning, Setup transfer in Wise as usual, opened my Westpac app, sent payment via PAYID to my existing Wise account xxxxx,wise.com. Payment and transfer successful (11 seconds). No messages,no emails re new Wise account details

So as explained in other posts I had to set up new "Wallet" account details with WISE. I also had to add new recipient to my billers/payees in my Westpac account. All that's changed for me is eg if I wanted to transfer 5k to my Thai bank. Step 1: Transfer 5k from Westpac to my Wise wallet a/c Step 2: Setup transfer from wise wallet to Thai bank. For others: the one slight hassle with verifying WISE wallet account was the verification steps. Pic of photo page of passport easy enough. The Selfie just would not work until I took it in natural light.
OldmanJ Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 I had the exact same problem after over 7 years of successful transfers.I rang my Australia bank and talked to an Indian girl who surprisingly helped me out.I couldn't change my contact details so I had to inform them I wasn't receiving the sent OTP code.Because it's a new transfer the bank doesn't recognize it and the first time transfer is VERY difficult.

I guess the bank is only doing the right thing if they suspect something fishy.

See attached screenshot. 4 minutes. That includes time to transfer from Westpac to WISE using online banking app. This has been similar experience for large sums eg Condo purchase. Just putting out my many transfers using WISE.

Bloody Hell ,Never had that using my Laptop. That's the only thing that I am using I don't use any Phone Apps Only one from the one bank that Closed the online internet banking and only to check the Balance than use the ATM Debit card online.

I have Bendigo Bank app and Westpac bank app. It does require you at some point to supply Thai phone # for OTP (if required) Off topic tip for anyone opening a Thai bank account choose BBL or Kasikorn as they are partner banks to WISE and also allow large transfer. Think its 2 million baht..

Wise suggests up to 2 working days days. my transfers have never been credited to my account by Bangkok Bank same day as sent by Wise. I use wise payid from my bank contacts and on advice by Wise re quicker transfers I will now select the wise wallet option to receive and park funds immediately prior to transaction. I also get a bit confused and to date I have not been notified of any account changes. thinking of bringing cash with me on future trips.......get a lesser exchange rate but am less stressed with Wise and also TRD if I go >180 days - assessable/non assessable who knows for sure - getting a bit much for this old Oz.

At our condo building there is ATM in outside wall of building. The gf was going to 7/11 right at that time and I asked her to do balance check in my Kasikorn a/c. The funds were there. This has always been my experience for small and large transfers. Smallest 50k largest (the max) 2 million.

That's exactly what occured with me. My bank transfers from my Westpac account now does not go to WISE account. Rather it goes to an individual account in my name (wallet) So let's say I want to do transfer. Step 1. I transfer funds from my Westpac a/c to my wallet Step 2. Transfer from my Wise wallet to Kasikorn a/c. Suggest do not revert to bringing in cash. The best exchange in Thailand is SuperRich Green (head office) You will receive more baht using WISE and not have to carry funds and go to exchange place..
scottiejohn Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Just received a notification from BKK that my money had arrived before Wise had told me they had sent it. All of less than four minutes from log onto wise, use UK debit card and money in BKK! Monthly living and only a few K £! I never TX over a weekend or bank Holiday, they take a long time, but working weekdays OK!

He told me my acc number has changed but didn't know when or what it was or why I wasn't notified - I use payid anyways. did a $20 test run see attached - my usual delay - no 4 minutes/ instantaneous/in advance - amounts I send eg $5000 - $10000 my enquiries a waste of time and still have no idea why my transfer times not same as others. probably stick with them the alternatives maybe not any better.

Where there are negative issues with Wise, these seem to relate to transfers originating in Australia (as graphically illustrated by this thread), the USA or mainland Europe.

I tried to use the new details with my bank to do the transfer and it set off a major alarm as fraud and my bank rejected the transfer making me use my old details but Wise informed that after this payment I can no longer use those details as they are shutting down that account. I messaged my bank as well as Wise, my bank is saying that as far as they are concerned it is fraud, Wise says they are fine, problem now is I am unable to transfer money to Thailand till it is sorted. Have any other Wise users in here been given new deatails regarding where they send their money to so that it can be transfered to Thailand by Wise, I do not want to use a fraudulent account to send my money to so need to see if any other users from Australia have been told to change their account details for Wise Australia pty ltd that they transfer to from their aussie bank. Also, you might find it helpful to learn more about how payment processing works through services like https://dashdevs.com/payment-gateway-services/ to understand the security measures in place. Still, it’s good you’re being cautious—keep communicating with both your bank and Wise to ensure everything is secure before proceeding. I've experienced a similar situation with Wise recently. They informed me that they’re transitioning to new account details, including a new BSB and account number, as part of an internal update. It seems like they're moving away from older accounts, which is why the old details will no longer be valid.
