By the way he isn't a Sikh. The Thai fella had one of those metal extendable batons in his car, as you do.🙃

It's always good to be prepared and ready to strike when you encounter one of too many Brits in Thailand.

Easy to take the Thai side. 👍

If the punishment fit the crimes, more people would think before they acted. Banning driving for an assault doesn't match. This wasn't about using the taxi in the crime. Some here see someone hit another in a fight, and suggest deporting, not actually seeing the confrontation and what happened. Fining many people teaches them a lesson, unless they are rich and entitled. Intentional harm against another innocent is a reason to deport, because that takes a certain mentality, and will probably happen again. Two people drunk and acting stupid earns a few days in jail and a fine, hoping it teaches them to think the next time.

Why was the taxi driver carrying an iron bar, what's more he seemed happy to use it to inflict injury to another person.

The lifetime ban will stop him driving a taxi for the safety of the public as he seems to have a short temper.

The charge for inflicting willful harm with an iron bar with intent to cause physical harm should be 5 years, serve two with three on probation.

It still has nothing to do with him plying his trade. If he's one to carry a weapon, that means he's one to use it anywhere. Many carry weapons here because they're cowards and many because of fear.  I know what western courts do with these kinds of offenses, but that doesn't happen here with it's weak justice system and corruption.

I could have taken the knife from her and hurt her, but I just waited until she calmed down, once with her sister getting in the middle. And we have a child together

One must be very careful who they breed with.

Your child has this DNA also.

Be careful Fred.

According to the Thais, it has everything to do with his trade. They see it as ruining the image they want for their country, he should be banned from driving a Taxi, as he is a threat to anyone he encounters.

DNA rarely makes anti social people. Very rarely is a person born anti social. The first five years of a person's life are the most important. How they are treated and raised is how they go into the world. The following years are also important and consistency is what makes a person what they are. If it's an abusive or neglected childhood, they will have baggage that will follow them the rest of their lives, and it's hard to endure bad treatment and be a positive person, but not impossible. If you're treated well, that's what you'll expect from others, and are more likely to stay away from toxic people. The world has many really disturbed people because they were raised by very disturbed people and they couldn't separate from that way of thinking.

I just meant that his driving or his job wasn't to blame for this encounter but his mentality. True, carrying a weapon while you're working gives you opportunities to attack patrons, but this man would do this anywhere the way he thinks.

I'll agree with that, which is why he should be banned from operating a Taxi, and based on the injuries seen here, he should be spending significant time behind bars.

NOTE: Oops, not sure where I got "Taxi" from, must have confused two different stories 🙃

I think you are confused again Fred.

The Thai was not driving a taxi.

Another mentioned it was a taxi, and I was thinking there was another story besides this one, where it said he was driving a car. You keep saying I'm always wrong, or confused, and this one time is all you go by? There is no again, so keep it to this one time and concentrate on what really matters, as it doesn't matter what he was driving but that he attacked the Brit with a weapon.

A few Brits make fools of themselves abroad, and all 67 million of us are supposed to be embarrassed?🤔

Not 67 millions, but the 50.000 who stay here.

Could it be that there is a secret agreement between the UK govt and Thailand? Similar to some centuries ago, when many convicts and riffraff was sent to Australia? Very strange.

Yes, it can’t be good seeing mum and dad fight all the time and mum always going dad with weapons.

Actually seeing how parents fight is good for any child, as it teaches them how to handle confrontations. Everyone fights with their partners, unless one is controlled and is afraid. It's how you fight that matters. Coming at someone with a weapon isn't good of course. My daughter didn't see but one of those times, and she was only 2 and was busy eating.

Even if there's only 50k there, one or 2 a week or whatever cause problems and you tar them all with the same brush?

We used to send our riff raff to America, then we started sending them to Oz cos it's much further away!😊

Same here. Another mentioned it was a taxi driver so I thought there was more to the story besides him driving a car.

The second part of your post is funny, indeed.

The first part needs some remarks:

There is another group of foreigners here: Aporx. 50.000 Germans. Are there in the headlines almost every day? Or what about the group of French, Swiss, Austrians? Not much to read about.

So, what is so specific with Brits to be involved in all kind of unlawful behaviour?

Can you recommend a bar with the best view? 555

I'm not a regular, I just pop down occasionally but everytime I'm there I am never disappointed with the comedy.

I'd say one of the bars junctions Lengki, Buakhou and Diana would see most action.

Enjoy 🍺

So the Thai guy had a weapon in his car (for protection).  Are these batons permitted to all drivers?  With no police force in Pattaya, I witness 100 traffic violations an hour each time I am forced to venture out on to the roads.  Should all farangs who know how to drive, buy one against the 90% of Thais who have no idea their car is already an offensive weapon?

Pepper spray would cause no permanent injuries. But you should escape while you can or throw it away and deny using it afterward as it's not wholly "legal". There are some that look like keychains or cigarette lighters that will even pass through customs.

As I am get older, I've contemplated using this method in the future, for now I am still quite a force to be reckoned with, so no need.

In the US it would be called assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, or even escalated to attempted murder if the facts warrant it. But TIT.

Good for you. I'm imagining that you would not exactly look like a good target for these *******s. I'm in good shape for my age (67) but I also don't drive except motorbikes in smaller towns. I have a good instinct for avoiding accidents due to many years of both driving amongst American *******s and riding motorcycle for 40 years.
