I am one who didn't know my pension would be locked, I came to LOS 8 years before pension age, my accountant didn't tell me my pension would be locked either, I found out after creating a life for myself, here.

 

So, folk have different experiences, I, for one, never heard of locked pensions.

How long can you stay out of the UK and still be considered resident and eligible for the annual increase? As a pensioner and not working and fancy travelling the World at what point would the annual increases stop?

There must me millions of both illegal and legal immigrants sending money back home. Do why doesn't the Government use this tool to track down some of the illegal immigrants. Also tax the legal ones on their overseas bank accounts. My ex wife, UK based, sends money back to Thailand for Thais in the UK who don't have a UK bank account. Why is the UK Government more interested in checking pensioners overseas transactions?

Not if you return to the UK by going via The Republic of Ireland and then enter the UK via Northern Ireland!

Also if you book your outgoing flights with non connecting flights then only the the first destination of your outward flight will be recorded.

PS; splitting outward flight bookings from the UK for long haul flights can greatly reduce your flight taxes as does using which country you "appear" to be booking from!

 

PS2; Crossing the Irish border: what you need to know!

 

PS3;  You can also leave the UK in the reverse UK/NI/RONI way without being normally tracked!

They were in power in 2010 in the coalition with the Conservatives. They were able to extract a few concessions the price for being in the coalition. Who is to say that there wont be another coalition.

I think expats abroad who are currently treated unfairly (again - my opinion) will be at the very bottom of her agenda, particularly when it would entail an outflow of money, not an inflow.

 

I appreciate that it involves reciprocal arrangements with other countries but if you have paid your dues I really can't see why you shouldn't be remunerated fairly, regardless of where you reside. You would still be taxed based on various thresholds and dependent on your alternative income.

 

Surely, expats are a lesser financial burden to the UK state or am I missing something?

 

Labour will be a one term party but I can't see any changes on the horizon regardless of which party is in charge next. I really hope I am wrong even though this doesn't affect me currently at my age.

As the topic regards pension and financial situations, I was referring to that with my comment. As I deal with decentralized finance, you might understand that better. So, the only one that is ill-informed here, seems to be you.
