custom-made orthotic insoles
I see Dr. Supaktra Jetsadapattarakul, a podiatrist at Golden Jubilee Medical Center, which in in Salaya, about 25km west of downtown Bangkok. She prescribes Ottobock insoles/orthotics, and the Ottobock technician fits you at the hospital, but the tech/rep only comes once or twice a month for fittings. They fit you with the step-in molds, make them, and then ship them to you in a week or two. You pay after you get them. You have to bring/wear the shoes you want fitted with you. I go to the clinic every two months to have my calluses and nails trimmed, and I see the doctor ever-other visit. I am supposed to get fitted for insoles for a new pair of shoes at my next visit. The last insoles I got were B3,000 a few years ago. I think you can buy them direct, but they are supposed to be much more expensive if you do, but I have no idea. The doctor visit is about B100, and about 500 to have the calluses and nails trimmed. I have been wearing orthotics off and on since 1989, and I think the Ottobocks are the best I've had. -

U.S. economy is experiencing ‘death by a thousand cuts’, says Deutsche Bank
Most people don't realize how profoundly troubling Moody's downgrade of US debt was. U.S. economy is experiencing ‘death by a thousand cuts’, says Deutsche Bank, as confidence in national debt management erodes "As Deutsche Bank’s Jim Reid put it in a note seen by Fortune this morning: “Yesterday felt like we were somewhere along the line of a ‘death by a thousand cuts’ with regards to the U.S. fiscal situation. Hard to know where in that thousand we are but probably much nearer a thousand than at zero even as yesterday saw an initial sell-off reverse as the session went on." -

Video Thai Man Goes Viral for Riding Motorbike on Mattress in Sisaket
Screenshots from @usernsm9x412dj TikTok video A Thai man has captured the internet’s imagination and a fair share of laughter after a video of his unique motorcycle ride went viral. This amusing clip, which has garnered over 11 million views, shows him cruising down the road in Sisaket province while lying face-down on a mattress, firmly grasping the handlebars. The man, seemingly at ease and unfazed by his unconventional position, became an instant hit online. His stunt, which involves lying flat on his stomach and occasionally adjusting his posture without losing control of the bike, intrigued viewers worldwide. Social media exploded with humorous comments and questions. One viewer playfully inquired, "How’s he changing gears lying like that?" Another jested, "What happens if he falls asleep mid-shift?" The standout comment for many was, "He's living my dream—working and sleeping at the same time." The creative use of a mattress has left viewers wondering if it was for comfort or comedic effect, especially in a country known for inventive motorcycle modifications. While in Thailand, quirky vehicle mods aren't uncommon, this mattress-borne ride has carved its own niche in the local folklore of transport creativity. Despite the viral fame, the safety implications haven't gone unnoticed. Although officials haven’t stated if this act breaches any traffic regulations, many netizens raised concerns about the potential risks involved. The spectacle of the mattress-riding man in Sisaket has provided a cheerful diversion, embodying the spirit of ingenuity and humour characteristic of Thailand’s road culture. For now, he enjoys his newfound fame as the latest internet sensation demonstrating yet another unexpected scene from Thailand's vibrant streets. Adapted by ASEAN Now from The Thaiger 2025-05-22
