Personally, I am glad they do have some control who is in their country, and where they are living, this is the reason most of Europe is buggered up, no control.

As mentioned above, takes 2 minutes online,

No need to have this cumbersome system. In Japan, you are issued an alien registration card, which you carry as identification. You only have to report when you change your address or other major life events and reporting can be done at your local district office. Usually, no waiting at all. Once I was late reporting something. No fine. I just had to write a letter of apology. Japan had a strong bias against foreigners but it's immigration system was very humane.

Online does not always work. Many times you need to report in person and the document checks start all over again.

If you think it's that easy, think again.

Works for me every time for years, only time it didn't was after I got a new passport, so had to do the first report after that in person, then online was active again, and will work for the next 7 years my passport is valid

Traveling out of the country in December so I am keeping fingers crossed that the next one I submit on-line will go thru--although posters have indicated you have to go in person after going abroad.

I have been abroad more than once, and there were no issues with online reports after that.

I did the next report 90 days after my return

Japan does not have porous land borders with 4 neighboring countries to contend with.

Better yet, don't do it at all and just pay the fine when renewing your visa. I never hassle with 90 day reports.

I suppose some people could find the 90 day report burdensome if they are living in the sticks.

It's part of a shopping day for me.

A bit annoying I can't do it online, apparently Immigration's software is incompatible with Linux. Happy to stand corrected if someone explains how.

Would you get fined 2000 baht once, or 4 times?

Just once, only 2000 Baht fine. I have been doing this for over 10 years now. I never waste my time with 90 reports.

Yeah, like the Burmese and Cambodians run down to immigration and report every 90 days. Or maybe they do it online with their laptops, huh?

The maximum fine for failing to report to the Thai Immigration Bureau within the 90-day period is 5,000 Thai baht (THB):

Late reporting: The fine for late reporting is 2,000 THB.

Arrested: The fine for being arrested is 5,000 THB.

Caught leaving the country: The fine for being caught while trying to leave the country is 4,000 THB.

ALL foreigners staying the kingdom are required to do 90 day reports.

Where is that info listed?

Please provide a link that shows all four penalties/fines!

Or just send someone else to do it, you don't need to do them in person - only extensions require your presence if you do it alone and without an agent.

It's not a tech issue. They require in person for many things.

You won't get away with just doing things online from home. If you live here long term, it will require facing immigration in person and doing their office hassles, line queue, etc. No way around it. Some people get away with using an agent, but you have to pay.

We are talking about 90 day reporting which you can do online in 5 minutes

The horrible crime I committed is being a farang in Thailand on a O visa..I have to report to the parole office every 90 days...

My crime was so bad I have been sentenced to life....A life time of reporting in Jomtien...

Guys never make the mistake of going on Mondays....It was a bloody madhouse there today...The whole place was packed to the gills with people....

Never ever do a 90 day report in person. 14 years by post. Yes 56 times, by EMS. Don't tie up us longstays.
