Can anyone tell me how to change my Line account from my old Smartphone to a different one. The different one still has the same phone number. Thanks.

Yeah we know

Usually you open the Line app in the new phone and login, see what happens, follow instructions, you might get logged out the old phone

Unless you wish to lose all of your LINE history, better to bypass what passes for advice here. Positively dangerous.

BACK UP first or you will lose everything that is more than fourteen days old.

Your link was better than nothing, but the emphasis should have been on the backing up first. Don't beat yourself up about it.

I know backing up is contained within the article, but here you need to explain/emphasise.

If they just signed in as someone suggested, that could be all their data lost.

I use LINE a lot, but sadly my iPhone iOS 15+  phone battery just swelled up and stuffed it, so dragged out my older iPhone that still works great, to be told by LINE, they now (November 2024) do not provide their service for my iOS 12.5, 12.18 iOS is the lowest they go.........😭

From the Line Home Screen, click the gear wheel top right.

Select the Backup Chat history option.  Backup to your Google or Apple account.

Set up Line on new phone.

Do same as above, but select Restore.

Why didn't you just get the battery changed?

12.5 is later than 12.18 😊

There is no data on my Line and only two numbers, my wife and my best friend. So data is not a problem.

Dependent on your current version you may need to go into it's Settings in order to choose to allow the account to be transferred.

Just read your post and there will be many who will have the same problems , especially the senior folk . I don't know if the following will apply in Thailand but what happens in the UK ls that , if you buy your new phone from a reputable store , they will do all of the  transferring of info from your old phone to your new phone free of charge .

I was in the UK recently visiting family and no one knew about Line though I was speaking to my wife in Thailand regularly on it. Saved quite a bit.

Actually, as pointed out by anther poster - you may be able to get your battery changed out at a local service facility - but thats no guarantee that the rest of the phone is not shot from damage from the overheating battery.

Though I assume you have already resolved the issue.

Not yet, but must admit, I hardly use the thing, it is just a convenience. The iPhone battery replacement would cost more than the phone is worth, plus, the battery has distorted the thing. My old iPhone still works great, except, now no LINE, so I will wait to see what may turn up...😋
