School Bus Runs Off Road in Udon Thani, No Serious Injuries Reported

A school bus carrying students from Wang Sam Mo Wittayakarn School, ran off a rural road connecting Ban Nong Kung Thap Ma and Ban Na Kae in Wang Sam Mo District, Udon Thani. Emergency responders promptly arrived at the scene, where they found the blue Isuzu bus off the road, at an angle and resting up against a tree.

 

The Wang Sam Mo District Hospital rescue team, in collaboration with the Wang Sam Mo VR Rescue Association and emergency responders from Kham Khok Sung Subdistrict, were dispatched to assess the situation. 

 

Fortunately, none of the students onboard suffered severe injuries. Most sustained only minor cuts abrasions and bruises. After being treated at the scene, about 10 students were transported to Wang Sam Mo District Hospital for further medical evaluation, in a fleet of ambulances.

 

According to preliminary reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and tun into a ditch. While the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, initial assessments suggest that road was dry and it was not raining.

 

The students at the scene described the moment of the crash as frightening but commended the driver who got everyone off the bus and onto the road, to wait for the rescue and medical teams.

 

Parents of the students were informed, with many travelling to the scene to comfort their children. The school has assured families that additional safety measures will be reviewed to prevent similar incidents in the future.

 

Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash to determine whether mechanical failure or driver error played a role.
